{"id":408522,"date":"2026-01-12T15:21:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T15:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/408522\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T15:21:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T15:21:10","slug":"mike-tindall-claims-nrl-players-have-approached-r360-breakaway-total-rugby-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/408522\/","title":{"rendered":"Mike Tindall claims NRL players have approached R360 breakaway \u2013 Total Rugby League"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                                        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.totalrl.com\/mike-tindall-claims-nrl-players-have-approached-r360-breakaway\/\" title=\"Permanent Link to Mike Tindall claims NRL players have approached R360 breakaway\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img width=\"675\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/49371385_RLC_003.jpg\" class=\"bestwp-post-thumbnail-single wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>FORMER England rugby union captain Mike Tindall has claimed that NRL players have expressed an interest in joining breakaway rugby union R360 competition because they are struggling with the length and brutality of the Rugby League season.<\/p>\n<p>Tindall is the public face of the proposed competition that wants to organise matches with star players in exotic locations around the world.<\/p>\n<p>The original intention was to launch it in 2026, but it has now been deferred until 2028.<\/p>\n<p>Tindall spoke about the concept while in Sydney for the recent Ashes cricket Test, denying that the organisers have been approaching NRL players and claiming that it was the other way round.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t target anyone,\u201d Tindall told The Australian newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNRL players and their agents approached us. We didn\u2019t go after them. We\u2019re a rugby union competition. NRL players are fine athletes, but only those who could play in the back three could make the transition.
