{"id":408584,"date":"2026-01-12T16:11:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T16:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/408584\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T16:11:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T16:11:13","slug":"victorias-alexandra-speedway-caught-in-longwood-bushfire-drama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/408584\/","title":{"rendered":"Victoria&#8217;s Alexandra Speedway caught in Longwood bushfire drama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ALEXANDRA Speedway is facing an extensive repair after falling victim to the weekend\u2019s tragic Longwood bushfires in Victoria.<\/p>\n<p>While incredible firefighting efforts saved much of the Alexandra township, located 100km north east of Melbourne, the area\u2019s historic speedway suffered significant infrastructure and plant damage.<\/p>\n<p>Included in the damage was the total loss of a water truck, a pair of rollers, extensive wiring for multiple electrical systems, trackside infrastructure and signage, plus vegetation around the venue grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1969, the 570-metre-long speedway has been a mainstay of the regional speedway scene, featuring both a traditional oval and a unique dogleg layout.<\/p>\n<p>The venue hosts the 100-lapper event annually, plus a three-hour relay race.<\/p>\n<p>The club has vowed to rebuild, with strong support from the motorsport community already coming forward.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/alexandra-speedway2-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-245063\"  \/>Alexandra Speedway.
