The only negative was the three missed tackles, but losing out on 1.5 points isn’t an issue for those who secured an almost 4o point man, of which only 1% of players have.

Scoring action
Pts value
Number
Points

Starting player
2.0
1
2.0

Player’s team won
2.0
1
2.0

Try
5.0
3
15.0

Tackles: 1pt per 5 tackles made
1.0
2
2.0

Ball carries: 0.5pt per 5 metres carried
0.5
22
11.0

Clean break
1.0
5
5.0

Defenders beaten: 1pt for every 2 defenders beaten
1.0
4
4.0

Missed tackles
-0.5
3
-1.5

Total
39.5

2 = Salesi Rayasi – 43.5 points

The full-back was another one to hit the hat-trick at the weekend, as his Bordeaux side put 50 on Northampton Saints. His first, a simple collection of the bobbling ball, his second, a result of a clever one-two with Damian Penaud, but his third, a simply unbelievable solo try that saw him glide through the Saints’ defence before calmly dotting the ball over the line. He was top of the carry list, made five clean breaks for 141 metres, and beat eight players. With 66.5 points from two matches, more fantasy managers may start looking at him.

Investec Champions Cup Team of the Week: ‘Maestro’ stars in demolition job while ‘top drawer’ shift against Springboks’ power rewarded

Scoring action
Pts value
Number
Points

Starting player
2.0
1
2.0

Player’s team won
2.0
1
2.0

Try
5.0
3
15.0

Ball carries: 0.5pt per 5 metres carried
0.5
27
13.5

Clean break
1.0
5
5.0

Defenders beaten: 1pt for every 2 defenders beaten
1.0
4
4.0

Missed tackles
-0.5
1
-0.5

Handling error
-0.5
1
-0.5

Investec Player of the Match
3.0
1
3.0

Total
43.5

2 =Noah Heward – 43.5 points

It was a weekend for hat-trick heroes and high-scoring games, and Bristol Bears winger Noah Heward took full advantage of his side’s 49-61 victory over the Vodacom Bulls. His first came after stepping out of a covering tackle by the Bulls winger Sebastian de Klerk, who initially looked to have caught him following an interception. His second, an acrobatic finish in the corner after receiving the ball from Richard Lane in the left-hand corner. His final try came off the back of another interception, except this time he had the pace to burn the defending player on the outside. His player of the match performance will have pleased the few who had selected him in their squads.

Scoring action
Pts value
Number
Points

Starting player
2.0
1
2.0

Player’s team won
2.0
1
2.0

Try
5.0
3
15.0

Ball carries: 0.5pt per 5 metres carried
0.5
28
14.0

Clean break
1.0
4
4.0

Defenders beaten: 1pt for every 2 defenders beaten
1.0
3
3.0

Turnover won
1.0
1
1.0

Missed tackles
-0.5
1
-0.5

Investec Player of the Match
3.0
1
3.0

Total
43.5

1 Billy Searle – 49 points

Criminally underrated, but in fine form currently, Searle delivered yet another player-of-the-match performance. He directed his team’s attack, kicked five conversions, assisted two tries and scored three. The former Tiger had a splendid weekend, with his team earning an impressive 181.5 points. The man with future vision picked hat-trick hero Noah Heward on the wing, as well as the impressive Tom Willis on the flank. This moved him up 50 places to number 212 in the rankings.

Anthony Watson also had an impressive weekend, moving 39 places up to 361 in the FTLOR rankings with 166 points after choosing Tommy Reffell as his captain and Marcus Smith as his kicker.

On the opposite end of the spectrum was, once again, Ben Youngs. Words need to be had with the former England scrum half after yet another sub-par performance. Never in the history of the game has a fantasy manager been sacked mid-tournament, but if this trend continues, then perhaps the board of directors will need to step in.

Dropping down 23 places from his already low altitude, Youngs now finds himself in 544th place following a disappointing 109-point round. The legendary nine put his trust in big-name players such as Antoine Dupont, Thomas Ramos and Louis Bielle Biarrey, but the pay-off simply didn’t come.

Here at Planet Rugby, we stuttered with a 143.5 round after sticking with Tadhg Beirne, who gave us -4.5 points, and also leaving Nick David on the bench, while our trust was redeemed by Henry Pollock and Alfie Barbaery in the back row.

For The Love of Rugby fantasy scores:

4 Ben Youngs – 353
3 Anthony Watson – 477
2 Dan Cole – 553
1 Planet Rugby – 560

Join all the fun in the fantasy league here.

– The greatest club rugby competition in the world.
