The Cavaliers were named Team of the Year at the NBA\u2019s annual sales and marketing meeting Tuesday on a landslide day that also saw them presented the league\u2019s Inclusion Leadership Award.<\/p>\n

During the 2024-25 season, the Cavs recorded a 69% year-over-year gain in new season-ticket memberships, leading to a now 170-game sellout streak and setting a franchise record in ticket sale revenue for a third consecutive season. <\/p>\n

Single-game suite sales jumped 30% YoY and group sales rose 28%. The team simultaneously had its most heralded City Edition retail campaign ever with a rise of 177.2% YoY, while its 100-person, members-only premium club \u201cHIPP\u201d<\/a> sold out prior to the season and is generating $2M-plus in incremental revenue.<\/p>\n

With a crucial 25-year extension with Cleveland Clinic intertwined — as well as the forthcoming 210,000 square-foot Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center<\/a> — the team\u2019s upsell growth was additionally up 514% YoY and its renewal rate on total revenue\/upsell revenue gained 90% YoY.<\/p>\n

Nic Barlage, the Cavaliers, Rock Entertainment Group and Rocket Arena CEO, said the recognition \u201caffirms the bold, high-impact culture we are building at Rock Entertainment Group — one that uses sports and entertainment to drive meaningful economic energy, opportunity and pride for Cleveland and this region.\u201d <\/p>\n

The Cavaliers\u2019 inclusion award was a byproduct of the team\u2019s community mantra, \u201cFor More Than Profit,\u201d which generated $12.2M in charitable donations and $9.8M worth of in-kind donations. To commemorate the 1967 Cleveland Summit — when top black pro athletes such as Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar joined Jim Brown to support Muhammad Ali\u2019s decision to oppose the Vietnam draft — the Cavaliers instituted a pair of platforms for young people in the city. The first, known as \u201cA Seat at the Table: Voices of Tomorrow,\u201d created a leadership conference for almost 100 young adults. The second, \u201cSocial Impact Academy,\u201d was a fully funded nine-month program for almost two dozen students that emphasized equity, activism and civic engagement.<\/p>\n

The Raptors were also recognized at the sales and marketing meetings for their high-tech Shooting Lab, which won the NBA Team Innovation Award. The Shooting Lab is an industry-first interactive platform that allows fans to compare and contrast their shooting mechanics with Raptors players via biomechanics, computer vision and AI. The fans receive personalized feedback on their shooting form and can curate custom digital playing cards.<\/p>\n

In addition, Grizzlies Guest Relations Coordinator Olivia Hay won the Pete Winemiller Guest Experience Innovation Award for personifying the team\u2019s internal CLICK values (Communicating courteously, Listening to learn, Initiating immediately, Creating connections and Knowing your stuff). She also ingratiated herself to co-workers for launching a monthly newsletter designed to shine a light on part-time employees and further camaraderie.<\/p>\n

TMBO delivered the NBA Values of the Game Award to Mavericks\u2019 VP\/Corporate Sponsorships Billy Phillips, who is retiring after 33 years with the franchise. During his tenure, Phillips helped secure naming rights for American Airlines Center, led programs such as \u201cSeats for Soldiers\u201d and orchestrated the refurbishment of 35 basketball courts worldwide.<\/p>\n
