\n\tMatt Damon<\/a> appeared on the \u201cConan O\u2019Brien Needs a Friend\u201d podcast and remembered Clint Eastwood<\/a> shutting him down during their first day on set together. Damon has appeared in two Eastwood movies: 2009\u2019s \u201cInvictus,\u201d for which he earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor, and 2010\u2019s \u201cHereafter.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo I was playing a South African rugby player, and that\u2019s a really tough accent to do,\u201d Damon remembered about his first Eastwood movie, noting he \u201cspent six months\u201d working with dialect coach to nail the accept of rugby player Francois Pienaar. \u201c[The coach] would come in from 9 to 5, Monday through Friday. It was a lot of work.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI showed up [on set] and I am ready and it\u2019s my chance to work with one of my heroes,\u201d Damon continued. \u201cThe very first take, I did it\u2026 There are a number of ways I\u2019m thinking of doing the scene and he just goes, \u2018Cut, print, move on.\u2019 I go, \u2018Hang on, hang on, hang on, boss. I want to, you know, I want to do another one. That was the first one!\u2019 He goes, \u2018Why? You wanna waste everybody\u2019s time?\u2019 And I went, \u2018No, I guess we\u2019re moving on.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDamon stressed \u201cthere was a kindness\u201d to Eastwood\u2019s rejection and called the filmmaker \u201ca lovely guy,\u201d adding: \u201cHis whole mentality was\u2026 your crew will go to the ends of the Earth for you if as long as you\u2019re not taxing them on every shot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEastwood is famous in Hollywood for not giving his actors many takes during filming. The 95-year-old icon\u2019s most recent film was 2024\u2019s \u201cJuror No. 2\u201d and was billed as his final directorial effort. <\/p>\n
