{"id":411363,"date":"2026-01-14T02:49:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T02:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/411363\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T02:49:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T02:49:12","slug":"99motorsport-announces-it-wont-contest-2026-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/411363\/","title":{"rendered":"99motorsport announces it won&#8217;t contest 2026 season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Dunlop Super2 Series will not feature 99motorsport this season after all.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus LaDelle\u2019s team had last year announced its intentions to contest the 2026 series with a pair of Triple Eight-built Commodore Supercars leased from PremiAir Racing owner Peter Xiberras.<\/p>\n<p>That plan, however, is now officially on the backburner after LaDelle confirmed they had failed to secure drivers.<\/p>\n<p>99motorsport will in the meantime focus on other categories before having another run at making its Super2 dream a reality for next year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s disappointing that I couldn\u2019t make it work for a second year in a row,\u201d LaDelle told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPete has been understanding throughout this and we\u2019ll continue to work on getting Super2 cars to 99.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt certainly wasn\u2019t made easy with a lot of announcements so late, a lot of guys committed to Porsche early through the uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/superstore.v8sleuth.com.au\/products\/1-18-scale-2018-bathurst-1000-winner-888-holden-commodore-zb-lowndes-s-richards-model-pre-order?utm_source=SRBuyButton&amp;utm_medium=website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/B18H18T-B43H18T_6_1024x1024.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had some great conversations with exceptionally talented drivers, but unfortunately we just couldn\u2019t get anything together early enough with the February SMSP first round.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuper2 is still the crown jewel in my roadmap for the 99motorsport program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll continue with our TGRA86 and GR Cup programs and work again towards next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>99motorsport previously competed in TCR Australia while LaDelle himself last year raced in GT4 Australia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.v8sleuth.com.au\/state-of-play-the-2026-super2-field\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Just six drivers have been officially confirmed on the 2026 Super2 grid<\/a> but a flurry of announcements are expected to come from Eggleston Motorsport, Anderson Motorsport, Image Racing, Brad Jones Racing, Matt Stone Racing and the Blanchard Racing Team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"THE Dunlop Super2 Series will not feature 99motorsport this season after all.
