K-pop supergroup BTS will perform in Australia for the first time in eight years as part of a mammoth 79-show world tour.<\/p>\n
The band had been on a nearly four-year hiatus while all seven of its members undertook conscripted military service in the South Korean army.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They will now return to the global stage in April and are set to perform shows across North America, South America, Asia, Australia and Europe up until 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Australian shows have been scheduled for 2027, in Melbourne on February 12 and 13, and Sydney on February 20 and 21.<\/p>\n
“Set to be the biggest global K-pop tour of all time, and the largest of their career to date, the run will span 34 regions and 79 shows, featuring first-ever performances in several cities and marking a historic new chapter for the group and their global fanbase, ARMY,” tour promoter Live Nation said in an announcement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Specific venue and ticketing information will be available at a later date, but fans can join a waiting list for updates.\u00a0<\/p>\n
BTS, which is short for Bangtan Sonyeondan and translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts in English, last visited Australia as part of their Wings Tour in 2017.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Their last headline performances were during the Permission to Dance on Stage Tour between 2021 and 2022, before they disbanded for military service.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The group debuted in June 2013 with the album 2 Cool 4 Skool, later releasing three full-length projects before gaining traction with their 2016 album Wings.<\/p>\n
Their\u00a0\u200blast \u200dalbum, Proof in\u00a0\u20602022, reached number one in 18 countries and has amassed about 16.7 billion streams worldwide.<\/p>\n
