Man City have taken a two goal advantage into the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final and are back in Premier League action this weekend.\"Rayan<\/p>\n

Manchester City have taken control of their Carabao Cup<\/a> semi-final against Newcastle United in a positive start to what is a busy run of fixtures for Pep Guardiola<\/a>\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

City<\/a> took the lead against the holders early in the second half, with Antoine Semenyo<\/a> continuing his positive start in his new shirt. The forward turned Jeremy Doku<\/a>\u2019s shot into the net to his side the advantage.<\/p>\n

Semenyo thought that he had doubled City\u2019s lead, but his goal was ruled out after a lengthy VAR review<\/a>. The goal was ruled out with Erling Haaland<\/a> was controversially adjudged to have been interfering with play while in an offside position.<\/p>\n

But City weren\u2019t to be denied that two-goal advantage before the full-time whistle. With the game looking to be coming to an end, Rayan Cherki scored City\u2019s second goal of the night in the 99th minute, giving them real control of the tie.<\/p>\n

After action in both domestic cup competitions over the last few days, for City, attention now turns back to the Premier League<\/a> and the title race. The team are looking to overturn a six point gap to leaders Arsenal.<\/p>\n

They will therefore be keeping an eye on their rivals\u2019 fixtures as well as their own. Here\u2019s a look at what lies ahead for the next couple of weeks.<\/p>\n

Man City (2nd place, 43 points)<\/p>\n

It\u2019s what could be a crucial time for Man City as they look to close the gap on Arsenal at the top of the Premier League. Games against Man United and Tottenham see them come up against two teams who have been struggling for form, but they face the unknown with Michael Carrick now in charge of United.<\/p>\n

Like City, the game against United could be a crucial one in the race for the Premier League title. On paper, the Gunners will be expected to get all three points against Forest.<\/p>\n

While Villa don\u2019t have Champions League action, their involvement in the Europa League means that they still have a busy schedule.
