HAWTHORN midfielder Will Day is set to miss the start of the 2026 season after dislocating his shoulder at training on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old underwent scans that confirmed the dislocation, but now the 2023 Peter Crimmins Medallist will meet with a surgeon next week to determine the next course of action.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Day had only just returned to full training on Monday<\/a> after recovering from bone stress in his foot.<\/p>\n

The South Australian was restricted to just six appearances in 2025 due to two separate issues with the same foot he suffered a navicular stress fracture at the start of 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now he is facing a delayed start to the campaign in a blow to Hawthorn\u2019s preparations ahead of the Opening Round clash against Greater Western Sydney.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“This is a disappointing setback for Will, and we really feel for him at this time,” Hawthorn GM Rob McCartney said on Thursday.<\/p>\n

“Will is one of the most resilient people I know, and he has done everything possible to return to full fitness already this off-season.<\/p>\n

“The Club is supporting Will through this process and will provide a further update on his recovery timeline once further consultation has been completed.”<\/p>\n

Day is yet to play in a final after missing last September after watching on in 2024 when he suffered a complex collarbone injury on the eve of the finals series<\/a>.<\/p>\n
