Freddie Mercury<\/a>\u2019s \u2018secret\u2019 daughter Bibi<\/a> has died after being diagnosed with a rare spinal cancer, aged 48.<\/p>\n Her death was confirmed by her widower Thomas who said in a statement that she died \u2018peacefully after a long battle with chordoma, a rare spinal\u00a0cancer<\/a>, leaving two sons aged nine and seven\u2019. The family live in France.<\/p>\n The statement to Daily Mail<\/a> continued: \u2018B is now with her beloved and loving father in the world of thoughts. Her ashes were scattered to the wind over the Alps.\u2019<\/p>\n Author Lesley-Ann Jones, revealed Bibi\u2019s existence in her book Love, Freddie \u2013 with her previously only being publicly known as \u2018B\u2019.<\/p>\n She said in response to the news: \u2018I am devastated by the loss of this woman who became my close friend, who had come to me with a selfless aim: to brush aside all those who have had free rein with Freddie\u2019s story for 32 years, to challenge their lies and their rewriting of his life, and to deliver the truth.\u2019<\/p>\n In May 2025, the late Bibi revealed she took a DNA test to confirm her paternity<\/a> when, 34 years after the Queen star\u2019s death, it was alleged he fathered a child\u00a0after having a brief fling with a friend\u2019s wife in 1976.<\/p>\n \t\t Mercury died in 1991, aged 45 following complications after being diagnosed with AIDs.<\/p>\n The book, which came out in September 2025, was reportedly based on 17 volumes of journals given to Bibi by her late father in 1991 before his death.<\/p>\n In August, she penned some emotional words<\/a>.<\/p>\n She said at the time: \u2018I didn\u2019t want to share my Dad with the whole world.<\/p>\n \u2018After his death, I had to learn to live with the attacks against him, the misrepresentations of him, and with the feeling that my Dad now belonged to everyone.<\/p>\n \u2018I cried and mourned my Dad, while fans all around the world mourned Freddie. When you are 15 years old, it\u2019s not easy. I had to become an adult without him, and live all the structuring moments and events without his support.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t Jones has claimed to the Mail that Bibi\u2019s cancer first reared when she was \u2018very young\u2019, leading to the family regularly relocating to seek the best treatment.<\/p>\n After it returned following \u2018some years\u2019 in remission, she contacted Jones in 2021 to tell her story.<\/p>\n She added: \u2018We worked together for 4 years to get the book written and published \u2013 on borrowed time.<\/p>\n \u2018Last summer, towards the end of her life, she, her husband and two young children undertook an epic trip of a lifetime to South America.<\/p>\n \u2018Against the odds, she was able to get to the Inca ruins at Macchu Pichu, her \u2018bucketlist\u2019 destination. When they returned at summer\u2019s end, she went straight into a treatment programme of 4 days in hospital for chemo, 3 days at home with her family. Our book was published on 5th September.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t Mercury\u2019s close friend and former fianc\u00e9e, Mary Austin, has denied that she had any knowledge of a secret child\u2019s existence<\/a>, despite Bibi claiming otherwise.<\/p>\n The 74-year-old said: \u2018The truth is that I am simply not the guardian of such a secret.<\/p>\n \u2018I\u2019ve never known of any child, or of any diaries. If Freddie had indeed had a child without me knowing anything about it, that would be astonishing to me.\u2019<\/p>\n As well as Austin, Love, Freddie also claimed his bandmates were aware of Bibi\u2019s existence.<\/p>\n The wife of bandmate Brian May, EastEnders \u2018 Anita Dobson, told The Telegraph<\/a>: \u2018Why wait this long? Brian thinks it\u2019s a load of rubbish.<\/p>\n \u2018I knew Freddie really, really well \u2013 I was a good friend of his \u2013 and I think Brian would trust me with that knowledge.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tDon’t miss a Showbiz scoop! Thank you.\u2019<\/p>\n A passage from the book itself reads: \u2018\u00a0\u2018He adored me and was devoted to me.<\/p>\n \u2018The circumstances of my birth may seem, by most people\u2019s standards, unusual and even outrageous.<\/p>\n \u2018That should come as no surprise. It never detracted from his commitment to love and look after me.
