<\/a><\/p>\nAmol Rajan will step down from Radio 4\u2019s Today programme later in 2026 while continuing his work on University Challenge and his Radical podcast.<\/p>\n
He has been part of the presenting team since 2021, having joined the BBC a decade earlier as its first media editor. In a statement, he said it felt like the right moment to move on, adding that working with the Today team had been a privilege. He also confirmed plans to focus on building a new company while remaining involved in long-running BBC projects.<\/p>\n
Amol said he was \u201cextremely excited to jump into the Great Digital Narnia of the Creator Economy, and build my own company,\u201d while stressing that he was not leaving the BBC. He also paid tribute to colleagues, describing the programme\u2019s leadership as \u201cexceptionally well-led\u201d.<\/p>\n
Today editor Owenna Griffiths said he is \u201can exceptional talent with a rare combination of intellectual dexterity and a brilliant sense of humour,\u201d noting that he would be missed by the whole team.<\/p>\n
BBC Radio 4\u2019s Controller, Mohit Bakaya, acknowledged the impact Amol has had on the programme and welcomed the fact he will continue to contribute to Radio 4 through Radical and other future projects.<\/p>\n
BBC News Director John McAndrew said Amol had brought \u201ca real breath of fresh air to Today\u201d and confirmed that the presenting line-up will continue to evolve. A decision on his successor will be announced in due course.<\/p>\n
