\n\tThe Tokyo Broadcasting System<\/a> has made a strategic investment in Legendary<\/a> Entertainment, the producer of \u201cDune\u201d and the Godzilla franchise, that will allow the Hollywood company access to more Japanese intellectual property.<\/p>\n

\n\tTBS \u2013 which operates broadcast networks, streaming platforms, production studios and a broad entertainment portfolio \u2013 has acquired a $150 million minority ownership stake in Legendary, led by CEO Josh Grode and chief creative Mary Parent. Legendary leadership and Apollo Funds remain co-owners of the studio\u2019s majority stake. The partnership is non-exclusive across content verticals. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFor decades, TBS has played a central role working with all members of the creative ecosystem in Japan, from multiple publishers to animators to writers and artists. Its position within the local market presents exciting opportunities for collaboration. \n\tIncluded in the TBS portfolio is production shop The Seven (which has both Japanese and domestic offices), behind series including Netflix\u2019s \u201cAlice in Borderland\u201d and\u00a0\u201cYu Yu Hakusho.\u201d Legendary\u2019s slate is steeped in Japanese IP across both theatrical films and shows, including\u00a0\u201cGodzilla x Kong: Supernova,\u201d \u201cMonarch: Legacy of Monsters,\u201d \u201cStreet Fighter,\u201d which recently wrapped production and the previously produced\u00a0\u201cPok\u00e9mon: Detective Pikachu.\u201d <\/p>\n
