According to the production team, when people visit the studio for the first time, they’re mostly surprised by the Counter Counter running on and off set.<\/p>\n

Their job is to count and confirm the number of counters that have fallen into the win zone (without getting caught on camera).<\/p>\n

Ahead of each episode, the Counter Counter also sets up the machine’s shelves with counters (a busy job!), while the Game Machine Operator loads the counters into the top of each drop zone.<\/p>\n

Is the ‘Tipping Point’ machine controlled by a computer?<\/p>\n

While the counters are manually loaded, the Tipping Point machine runs on electronics and is controlled by a computer.<\/p>\n

The machine is triggered to mechanically release the counters into the drop zone, when a contestant presses their buzzer.<\/p>\n

How many episodes are filmed a day?<\/p>\n

Four episodes of Tipping Point are filmed each record day, three days a week, and take about an hour and a half to film.<\/p>\n

Although the counters are not especially heavy, they’re substantial in size, and often bigger in diameter than what people expect! The black and silver counters measure 15cm in diameter and the Jackpot counters are 17.5cm.<\/p>\n
