Appearing on a new episode of the\u00a0Rolling Stone Uncut<\/a> podcast during his Australian tour<\/a>, Yungblud discussed the divisive reaction he\u2019s received over the last few months. Check out the full episode below.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s the thing for me, when people say to \u2018fit in rock,\u2019 that is the most un-rock and roll thing ever,\u201d he said. \u201cRock music isn\u2019t supposed to be a gate-kept boys club. And it became that. That\u2019s why it was being suffocated and boring and so adherent to the past.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have to allow young people to pioneer something, or at least try to give this thing a heartbeat.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cThe worst thing that happened to rock was you were getting ridiculed for the reference point. Oasis sounded like the Beatles and they fucking loved that. They wore that as a badge of honour. Kurt Cobain loved John Lennon\u2026 I think to carry on this thing, and to reference it\u2026 it\u2019s a beautiful fucking thing, and people ridicule for it and it just sucks.\u201d<\/p>\n Love Music? <\/p>\n Get your daily dose of metal, rock, indie, pop, and everything else in between. <\/p>\n Yungblud said while he\u2019s been able to handle the negativity thrown his way, he worries that younger generations will see the criticism and steer clear from pursuing a path in rock and roll.<\/p>\n \u201cMy biggest fear is that they get deterred from pursuing a career in it by some old bitter cunt on the internet,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I\u2019m here to go. if you\u2019re young, play rock. Fuck it.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you actually meet the legends like Steven [Tyler], like Ozzy, like Billy Corgan, they fucking want it. It\u2019s only the people who didn\u2019t necessarily reach the mountain top who are gatekeeping the genre.
