This also applies to the overheated metals market.<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">Copper is a good example. It is at an all-time high but is clearly being driven by hot money flows as inventories surge.<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/11-4.png\" width=\"1521\" height=\"430\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">While the real economy demand slumps.<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/12-3.png\" width=\"1528\" height=\"519\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">This is dramatically outpacing any moves in the USD, market balance, or economic prospects.<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">I\u2019d argue it\u2019s tied to a vague concern about resource nationalism associated with anarcho-imperialism, but, frankly, most of these metals are simply going up because they are going up.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">China tends to approach these market bubbles with concerted campaigns, so expect more servers and carpets to be pulled out from under the rally in due course.<\/p>\n<p data-component=\"paragraph\">It\u2019s a new headwind for the AUD.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"All things Australian dollar are struggling a little this afternoon.
