In a match full of momentum swings and incredible shot-making,\u00a0Iva Jovic(USA)\u00a0emerged victorious over\u00a0Taylah\u00a0Preston (AUS)\u00a0in a display of strategy, resilience, and sheer determination.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a crazy match,\u201d\u00a0Jovic\u00a0admitted after the win. \u201cTaylor was having an unbelievable week, playing some of the best tennis I\u2019ve seen. I really had to adjust, find a different strategy, and just try not to panic.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first set didn\u2019t go\u00a0Jovic\u2019s\u00a0way, down 5\u20131, she knew the situation was tough but remained focused.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven in that moment, I thought if I could put a little scoreboard pressure on her, I\u2019d have something to work with in the second set,\u201d she explained. The strategy paid off. After a hard-fought first set, momentum began to shift. \u201c[Taylor] threw her racket at 5\u20133,\u201d Jovic recalled. \u201cI used that to stay in the match and find my rhythm for the next set.\u201d<\/p>\n

By slowing the pace, weathering the storm, and capitalising on key moments,\u00a0Jovic\u00a0turned a challenging start into a thrilling comeback. \u201cShe was hitting some incredible winners, but I just stayed calm, made adjustments, and waited for the level to dip,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Having a long, three set match against\u00a0Magda Linette(POL)\u00a0the night before her Semi Final appearance was not the ideal preparation for\u00a0Jovic. \u201c[I] went to sleep around 2:30 a.m. and got up at 9,\u201d\u00a0Jovic\u00a0admitted. \u201cI felt sluggish this morning, but I worked with what I had and just focused on staying in the match.\u201d<\/p>\n

This win adds momentum for\u00a0Jovic\u2019s\u00a02026 season.<\/p>\n

\u201cStarting off well is nice, but I\u2019m really focused on continuing to improve and reaching bigger goals,\u201d she said. \u201cMy ranking is higher than last year, but the focus is always on getting better every year.\u201d<\/p>\n
