{"id":417877,"date":"2026-01-16T23:15:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T23:15:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/417877\/"},"modified":"2026-01-16T23:15:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T23:15:09","slug":"ousted-f1-driver-lands-new-job-in-major-career-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/417877\/","title":{"rendered":"Ousted F1 driver lands new job in major career move"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former F1 driver Logan Sargeant has been confirmed as a Ford driver in the World Endurance Championship\u2019s Hypercar class in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>During the Ford Racing launch event in Detroit on Thursday night, the American outfit announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/racer\/1018035\/logan-sargeant\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sargeant <\/a>would join existing factory drivers Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Priaulx in the Hypercar class.<\/p>\n<p>The 25-year-old American competed in 36 grands prix between 2023 and 2024 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/teams\/williams\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Williams <\/a>before he was replaced for the final nine rounds of the 2024 season.<\/p>\n<p>Following his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/f1\/news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">F1 <\/a>exit, Sargeant participated in WEC\u2019s Bahrain rookie test in November and has also made appearances in the IMSA SportsCar Championship LMP2 class.<\/p>\n<p>Sargeant will now make the full-time move into Sportscars in 2027.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLogan brings a level of technical sophistication and high-downforce experience that is vital for a programme of this scale,\u201d Ford LMDh chief Dan Sayers said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving an American back in a Ford at Le Mans feels right.
