Everyone from Kylie Jenner<\/a> \ufeffto Hailey Bieber<\/a> has participated in the trend, sharing photos and memories from the year 2016, dubbing it as the “golden era” of internet culture.<\/p>\n

Of course, 2016 was significant for Meghan and Harry<\/a> for other reasons – it was the start of \ufefftheir relationship.<\/p>\n

Meghan Markle took to Instagram to participate in the trend, sharing a video of her and Prince Harry dancing in their backyard with the caption “When 2026 feels like 2016… you had to be there.”<\/p>\n

A second photo in the post\ufeff shows the couple hugging in a lake in Botswana with towels wrapped around them, taken in 2016.<\/p>\n

The pair travelled to Botswana and camped under the stars together for five days, just weeks after they first met.<\/p>\n

The pair have credited that trip as the moment they fell in love.<\/p>\n

The couple first met in July 2016,\ufeff going public a few months later in October after secretly dating for months.<\/p>\n

After a month of being public, Prince Harry issued a rare palace statement about the harassment Meghan had received since the pair were confirmed to be dating.<\/p>\n

It was the first time the palace had ever officially confirmed a royal romance.<\/p>\n

“Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her,” the statement from Harry’s Communications Secretary read.<\/p>\n

“It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.<\/p>\n

“He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game’. He strongly disagrees.<\/p>\n
