Mon\u00e9t X Change<\/a> came into Season 4 of The Traitors<\/a> ready to break the Drag Race<\/a> curse \u2014 and while she made a strong impression, her run was cut short. Though she lasted longer than past RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race alumni, her time in the castle was still cut too short. In her Traitors run, the beloved drag queen, singer and performer made alliances, clocked players, and left fans hungry for more.<\/p>\n

In an exit interview with Blavity\u2019s Shadow and Act, Mon\u00e9t talked about being blindsided, why Colton Underwood had so much influence, and why she now has smoke for every Housewife in the castle.<\/p>\n

I thought, \u201cOK, finally someone from Drag Race is going to last.\u201d I mean, I think technically you lasted the most episodes, but I need someone from Drag Race to make it to at least Episode 6 or 7. What\u2019s going on?<\/p>\n

Yeah, I wanted that too. I really wanted that to happen. But the thing about The Traitors is that you just can\u2019t control the cards that you\u2019re dealt. Experiencing the show, you just really have no control of anything. The only people who have any semblance of control or power are the Traitors, and if you\u2019re Faithful, you\u2019re just really up to how they want to puppeteer the game. And I had a great time playing the game. It is some of the most fun I\u2019ve ever had on television, and I would love the chance to make a return.<\/p>\n

Did you think in the moment that saying Lisa Rinna\u2019s name to Candiace [Dillard Bassett] would result in [your murder]? Did you think, \u201cOK, if I say anybody\u2019s name that could possibly be a Traitor,\u201d was that in your mind at any moment \u2014 that the Housewives could be coming for you? What was going through your mind at the time?<\/p>\n

Yeah. No, I really had no thoughts about it. I did not think that at all, because it was so flippant and passing. I had just said it to Candiace because I really thought she was an ally, someone I could trust, so there was no thought about that coming to be ultimately my undoing in the game. I did not think that at all. I thought Candiace was going to be a trustworthy ally, someone I could go to the end of the game with, actually. And so I just didn\u2019t think that that was going to be the thing. And I had vowed to her that we would protect each other \u2014 Traitor or Faithful, whichever one we are. I trusted that with her. But baby, she got me. Those sneaky little Housewives.<\/p>\n

And before, I used to watch the show and be like, \u201cNo, don\u2019t hunt the Housewives. They\u2019re just ladies who like to fight on TV and flip tables and do weird things.\u201d But from this point on \u2014 Housewife hunter. Kill \u2019em all. If you\u2019re a Housewife, you have to go.<\/p>\n

I know it\u2019s probably been talked about before \u2014 but do you think there\u2019s a chance that you were not a Traitor this season because Bob [The Drag Queen] was one last season?<\/p>\n

Oh yeah, 100%. I think Alan did not make me a Traitor because Bob was such an abysmal one last season. So he was like, \u201cNo, let me not do that to Mon\u00e9t.\u201d Because it\u2019s good to be a Traitor. Even though Bob was one last season, I want to be a Traitor again because I think the fans, the people playing the game, they\u2019re like, \u201cThere\u2019s no way Alan will make a traitor out of one of the drag queens two times, two seasons in a row,\u201d so I was all about being a Traitor again. And I think that\u2019s where I shine best \u2014 where I get to lie, cheat and gaslight everyone in the castle. I was ready for that. That\u2019s what I really wanted. I was hoping and praying, baby. I was in my room, praying, sacrificing chickens, whatever I could do to hopefully be a Traitor.<\/p>\n

When I\u2019m looking at fan sentiment so far about the season \u2014 at least specifically last night\u2019s episodes \u2014 Colton Underwood\u2019s presence on the season seems to be very polarizing with fans. As someone who seemed to have a pretty good working relationship with him within the castle, could you give us any insight on how Colton just socially is able to sway so many people in the castle?<\/p>\n

Because I was telling Tiffany [Mitchell] in my previous interview that I personally felt like, watching the episodes, that the Faithfuls really didn\u2019t hold Colton and Eric [Nam] to the fire as much for such a big miss at the roundtable that I would\u2019ve anticipated. So I just want to know from you, from working with Colton, how was his perception in the house, and how do you think he\u2019s able to sway a lot of people?<\/p>\n

I wasn\u2019t there much, but myself and I want to say maybe Natalie or maybe Candiace \u2014 we were both like, \u201cGirl, really?\u201d Especially more so Eric, because I think Eric\u2019s testimony was more damning than Colton\u2019s. Eric was really gung-ho about, \u201cI heard a laugh, and it was you.\u201d And I think, yeah, Colton brought her name up, but Eric saying that \u2014 I think that was the thing that made people go, \u201cOh.\u201d Like, \u201cYou said you heard her laugh \u2014 that\u2019s pretty major.\u201d And again, you\u2019re grasping at straws, right? So I would blame Eric more than Colton. From day one \u2014 and I said it to a few people, I think I said this to Colton and a few people here and there \u2014 I thought that maybe Tiffany became a Traitor from the first night, because I thought that that was her thing.<\/p>\n

But I think in general, even if we see Michael Rapaport and whatever, we all come into this world \u2014 we have implicit biases. We all have biases. It is a thing. People can\u2019t act like, \u201cNo, I don\u2019t.\u201d You\u2019re not an exception. You have them as well. So I think that there is some of that in play with how people are reacting to Colton and Tiffany, as opposed to Ron [Funches] and Porsha [Williams]. And I think we saw it on display hugely with Michael Rapaport, right? He literally was saying, \u201cThat\u2019s what I meant.\u201d But it is what you meant. That is what you said. So I think at least he said it with his chest a little bit, although he tried to recant \u2014 like, \u201cThat\u2019s not what I meant.\u201d No \u2014 that is what you meant.<\/p>\n

And I think that I like that this show \u2014 I think it\u2019s another layer to the show. It\u2019s sparking a conversation about how these biases exist and how we react to them when different people act on them. Going back to Ron and Porsha \u2014 how people were looking at that, how people casted Ron aside. And now Colton and Tiffany \u2014 it seems like, I mean, I haven\u2019t seen much. We\u2019ll see if it goes on. But it doesn\u2019t seem like people have much to say about it. And that is not a topic of conversation for Colton, when he and Eric basically did the same thing that Ron did to Porsha.<\/p>\n

Everyone loves the duo that seemed to emerge with you and Natalie [Anderson]. Can you talk about getting to know her, as well as some other people you got to know very well while you were in the castle?<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a big fan of Natalie from Survivor. I loved her season of Survivor with her and her twin sister \u2014 how she got at John Rocker, that awful guy in her first season \u2014 so I was a big Natalie fan. I was excited to play with her. I was excited to play with Rob C. Rob C. and I were \u2014 for the short time that he was there \u2014 we were starting to bond, and I was really trusting him. And Porsha \u2014 I\u2019m a huge Housewives of Atlanta fan. It\u2019s the only Housewives I watch, actually. So when I saw Porsha Williams that first night, I was geeked. I was like, \u201cNot Porsha, not Miss Underground Railroad herself.\u201d I was excited to play the game with her.<\/p>\n

And again, obviously, she had a short run in the show, but those were probably the three I was really most excited to play with. And also Kristen Kish. Also she\u2019s just hot. I was like, \u201cI want Kristen to top me. I want to be Kristen\u2019s girlfriend.\u201d So yeah, I was just really interested in playing with her as well. So those are my four I was gung-ho about.<\/p>\n

We need Traitors All-Stars or something to bring you back. Or maybe Kori King said maybe she can avenge the drag queens on Traitors now.<\/p>\n

Oh, did she say that? Kori would be great.<\/p>\n

She said she needs to come back to avenge both you and Bob, so we\u2019ll see. Maybe she\u2019ll be the next one.<\/p>\n

Well, I think Kori would be a great addition to the show, as long as TS Madison, Bianca Del Rio \u2014 I think it\u2019ll be f**king fierce. And I mean, yeah. If any of those dolls get on there, my words are: don\u2019t trust the Housewives. But you know what \u2014 do f**k with them, because I will say, I have my comedy tour High Heels, Bad News, coming this spring, and the amount of Candiace and Lisa material I have from this show to make myself feel better about what both of those b*****s did to me? I can\u2019t wait for them to hear it.<\/p>\n
