Rebecca Ferguson<\/a> is the star of one of Apple TV\u2019s biggest sci-fi shows in Silo<\/a>, but five years ago, she also starred in a massive sci-fi reboot that\u2019s gaining attention once again on streaming. Ferguson stars alongside Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a> (Marty Supreme) and Oscar Isaac<\/a> (Moon Knight) in Dune<\/a>, the 2021 epic based on the novel of the same name by Frank Herbert<\/a>. Now titled Dune: Part One, the 2021 sci-fi film is streaming exclusively on HBO Max, where it\u2019s one of the top 10 most popular movies in several countries. It\u2019s also a massive success on VOD in countries where it isn\u2019t streaming on HBO Max.<\/p>\n

Dune was a massive success by nearly every metric that movies can be measured. The film debuted with a Certified Fresh 83% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, as well as a Verified Hot 90% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. It wrapped up a successful box office run after grossing $410 million globally against a $165 million budget, and it won six Oscars at the 2022 Academy Awards. It also spawned a sequel that, in the eyes of many, was even more of a success than the original. The franchise will return with a third movie<\/a> later this year.<\/p>\n

Denis Villeneuve<\/a> wrote the script for Dune: Part One with Jon Spaihts<\/a> and Eric Roth<\/a>, and Villeneuve also directed the film. Villeneuve kicked off a run of grand sci-fi epics with Arrival<\/a> before following it with Blade Runner 2049<\/a> and both Dune movies. After Dune: Part Three releases later this year, he will step away from the sci-fi franchise to direct the next James Bond<\/a> movie. Steven Knight<\/a>, creator of Peaky Blinders<\/a>, is writing the script.<\/p>\n

When Does \u2018Dune: Part Three\u2019 Come Out?<\/p>\n

Dune: Part Three will be released in theaters on December 18, the same day as Avengers: Doomsday<\/a>. Dune veterans like Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya<\/a> will all be back in Dune: Part Three, formerly titled Dune: Messiah, along with newcomers like Robert Pattinson<\/a>. Anya Taylor-Joy<\/a>, who previously only featured for a few seconds in Dune: Part Two, will also step into a bigger role in the threequel. Jason Momoa<\/a> will even return in Dune 3 as Duncan Idaho after seemingly perishing in Dune: Part One. Villeneuve has confirmed that Dune: Part Three will be his final installment in the Dune movie series.<\/p>\n
