A\u00a041-year-old\u00a0man has been arrested in connection\u00a0to\u00a0the pipe bombs\u00a0found\u00a0in Belconnen\u00a0earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Following investigations, police\u00a0identified\u00a0the 41-year-old man as\u00a0a person of interest.<\/p>\n

Police allege that the man\u00a0purchased\u00a0and stole items used to create the pipe bombs from a store in Belconnen.<\/p>\n

Officers\u00a0from\u00a0ACT Policing\u2019s\u00a0Criminal Investigations team\u00a0yesterday (Saturday 17 January\u00a02026)\u00a0conducted\u00a0a search warrant at the man\u2019s residence in Belconnen, where they\u00a0located\u00a0several\u00a0items consistent with the assembly of pipe bombs.\u00a0The man was not at the residence at the time.<\/p>\n

About 10:30pm last night,\u00a0police received a report that the man was at a unit in\u00a0Gungahlin.<\/p>\n

Police attended the unit and placed the man\u00a0under arrest.<\/p>\n

He has been charged with\u00a0unauthorised\u00a0manufacture of a prohibited dangerous substance,\u00a0possessing\u00a0a prohibited weapon\u00a0and\u00a0theft.<\/p>\n

The man will face the ACT\u00a0Magistrates\u00a0Court on Monday (19 January 2026).<\/p>\n

Investigations\u00a0remain\u00a0ongoing\u00a0and further charges are expected to be laid.<\/p>\n
