{"id":420967,"date":"2026-01-18T09:56:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-18T09:56:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/420967\/"},"modified":"2026-01-18T09:56:18","modified_gmt":"2026-01-18T09:56:18","slug":"popular-circuit-to-undergo-makeover-in-hope-of-f1-return","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/420967\/","title":{"rendered":"Popular circuit to undergo makeover in hope of F1 return"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Imola circuit is set to undergo a makeover in a modernisation that it hopes might enable a future return to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/series\/single-seater\/formula-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1<\/a> calendar.<\/p>\n<p>The famed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autodromoimola.it\/en\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Italian track<\/a> was banished from the F1 calendar this year, after a six-year stint on the calendar under the umbrella of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>It heralded a long-awaited, having been off the calendar since 2007, during which time it was given a number of updates and reprofiles.<\/p>\n<p>But with space on the calendar becoming more coveted amid new countries and cities competing for a spot, the circuit was once again confined to history after the 2025 running.<\/p>\n<p>The circuit\u2019s axing drew <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/2025\/06\/10\/imola-defiant-on-future-f1-return-after-bitter-2026-calendar-axe\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">condemnation from officials on behalf of the Imola municipality<\/a>, who defiantly expressed hope of a potential comeback in the future.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Imola-F1--1024x576.webp.webp\" alt=\"Fresh features to the Imola Circuit will include a new hospitality venue sitated at Tosa\" class=\"wp-image-235507\"  \/>Fresh features to the Imola Circuit will include a new hospitality venue sitated at Tosa<\/p>\n<p>And new plans that are being implemented may see the circuit receive the boost it needs to make that comeback.<\/p>\n<p>The paddock will be widened, along with the section that houses the medical centre, to ensure smoother logistical efforts for its hosting of the World Endurance Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Areas surrounding the Tosa hairpin are also being updated.
