places in the Champions and Challenge Cup knockout stages.

Meanwhile, there were plenty making big plays in Japan as the Rugby League One season continues.

<p the Japanese season continues as Kubota Spears remain unbeaten in the top division.

Foley carved up Toyota Verblitz, setting up five line breaks and contributing 12 points in the 39-10 win.

It was a similar story for winger Marika Koroibete, starting for Saitama Wild Knights as they defeated Yokohama Canon Eagles 50-21, who remain the only other team yet to lose a game.

Sean McMahon continued his strong form for Tokyo Sungoliath, recording double-digit tackles and carries as they took care of Mie Honda Heat 30-15.

As for Liam Gill and Isaac Lucas, they were two bright spots for BlackRams Tokyo in a heavy 67-21 loss to Kobelco Kobe Steelers.

Lucas lit up the field with ten tackle busts and 108 metres, while Gill opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Ardie Savea’s side blew them away.

Europe

In the Challenge Cup, back-rower Tom Hooper came up big to help Exeter secure their place in the knockout stages with a 31-0 shutout of Cardiff.

Hooper led the way with 18 tackles and a turnover in the victory, with Scott Sio also putting together a solid shift starting.

Meanwhile, it was less fortunate for fellow back-rower Langi Gleeson, who succumbed to a knee injury in the 20th minute for Montpellier.

The former Waratah was left on the ground in agony for a considerable period after taking a hit-up before exiting the field.

It was Gleeson’s first start for the club since his move, who defied the early injury for a 31-26 win over Ospreys.

In further games, Jordan Petaia started on the wing for Perpignan in their 20-all draw with Lions, enough to see them advance to the next stage.

As for the Champions Cup, former Waratah James Ramm had a big game for Northampton at the back in their 43-28 win over Scarlets.

The former Australia U20s star set up two tries and broke three tackles in the victory, supported by 2023 Rugby World Cup back-rower Josh Kemeny in the starting side.

In other games, Adam Coleman put together a defensive shift for Bordeaux-Begles, completing a perfect 17 from 17 tackles in a 27-15 win over Bristol, while Irae Simone set up a try in Clermont’s heavy 50-12 loss to Sharks.

It was a big weekend in Europe as the Australians overseas fought for their places
