The Landman<\/a> season 2 finale kicks off with major changes for everyone. Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton<\/a>) is out as president of M-Tex and figuring out what’s next, while his daughter Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) struggles to adjust to college life and leans on her mother Angela (Ali Larter) for support.\n<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Cooper (Jacob Lofland) ends up in hot water with the police after stepping in to save his fianc\u00e9e, Ariana (Paulina Chavez), from a brutal attack at work.\n<\/p>\n By the end of the episode, a lot of new plans are taking shape while everyone’s careers, relationships, and futures are shifting\u2026 hopefully for the better. The coaches and Paigyn notice this, pulling Ainsley aside and giving her some advice about getting stronger if she wants to make it through the season.\n<\/p>\n Later, things get uncomfortable when a group of high school boys start hanging around the bleachers and heckling the team. The trio then zeros in on Paigyn, and Ainsley puts them in their place. Tragically, Ariana is attacked and almost sexually assaulted behind the bar where she works. Cooper arrives just in time and takes the man, Jonathan Reasner, down before things get worse.\n<\/p>\n The next day, Cooper begs Ariana not to go back to the bar, and she agrees. They head to the police station to file formal charges, but things take a turn when detectives set their sights on Cooper. They start questioning him, even suggesting he went too far in handling the situation.\n<\/p>\n “17 punches to the face, he was no longer a threat,” one officer says.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n Ariana then calls Rebecca (Kayla Wallace) to fill her in, explaining that Reasner died and the police are considering charging Cooper with murder. Rebecca heads to the station and calls Tommy on the way, asking him to pull any favors he can with authorities. Tommy points out that Reasner didn’t die from the confrontation, but rather from a heart attack at the hospital. When one of the detectives questions whether the incident played a role, Tommy pushes back, saying the real issue was the danger Reasner posed to Ariana, and that it doesn’t make sense for the police to side with a potential rapist.\n<\/p>\n In the end, Tommy successfully convinces the authorities not to press charges against Cooper. He lets Ariana and Cooper know the situation is resolved. The cattle reference isn’t a real business move; it’s just there because no one else had the name, and it makes the paper work easier.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n Toward the end of the season 2 finale, Tommy gathers Cooper, Ariana, and the rest of the crew to lay out the plan. Cooper’s leases are producing very well, so Tommy cut a new deal with Gallino to walk away from M-Tex and finance exploration with CTT at a 50-50 split. Even better for the team, Tommy announces that 25% of the profits will be put in a pool and shared among the employees.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n The new company leadership is quickly locked in, too. Cooper will be president, Tommy steps in as senior vice president, Nate (Colm Feore<\/a>) will handle the money as treasurer, and Rebecca will be chief operating officer while also taking care of legal matters as chief counsel.\n<\/p>\n Dale (James Jordan) will lead exploration, T.L. is set to manage drilling, and Boss (Mustafa Speaks) will run the crew.
