Halverson backed up Vasilevskiy for the club\u2019s loss to the St. Louis Blues on Friday, in place of Johansson.<\/p>\n<p>Halverson\u2019s reassignment indicates Johansson will be active for the Lightning\u2019s game against the Dallas Stars this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>1\/16\/26: According to a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TBLightning\/status\/2012208345021600013\" rel=\"nofollow\">team announcement<\/a>, the Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled goaltender <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/halvebr01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-16_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Brandon Halverson<\/a> ahead of tonight\u2019s game against the St. Louis Blues. The Lightning already had a full 23-man roster before the move, so they\u2019ll have to make a corresponding transaction.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately for the Bolts, Halverson\u2019s recall isn\u2019t connected to an injury to starting netminder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/v\/vasilan02.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-16_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Andrei Vasilevskiy<\/a>. Backup goalie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=johanjo03,johanjo02&amp;search=Jonas+Johansson&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-16_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jonas Johansson<\/a> missed Tampa Bay\u2019s practice on Thursday for what the team described as \u201cbody maintenance\u201d, so he could be headed for a brief trip to the injured reserve.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s transaction marks the second recall of the year for Halverson. He was first recalled in early December when Vasilevskiy was injured. He only appeared in one game for the Lightning during his 12-day recall, briefly appearing in Tampa Bay\u2019s shootout loss to the New York Islanders on December 13th.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the 29-year-old\u2019s play in the AHL has made him an easy recall candidate when the Lightning have needed him. Halverson has recorded a 12-6-3 record in 20 games for the AHL\u2019s Syracuse Crunch this season with a .899 SV% and 2.42 GAA. His three shutouts are tied for the second-most in the league.<\/p>\n<p>Until the Lightning provides an update on Johansson or their corresponding roster move, there\u2019s no telling how long Halverson\u2019s current recall will last.
