The announcement came during Apple\u2019s recent earnings call, where Cook explained that he expects the new Siri features \u2013 infused with Apple Intelligence<\/a> \u2013 to be available \u201cnext year.\u201d That\u2019s something Apple has said before, but it likely won\u2019t placate users who are impatiently awaiting improvements to the virtual helper.<\/p>\n Indeed, you can see that playing out on forums and communities across the internet. The Siri subreddit<\/a>, for example, is full of posts decrying the state of Apple\u2019s artificial intelligence (AI)<\/a> helper. Browse it today and you\u2019ll find posts titled \u201cSiri is a complete disappointment,\u201d \u201cOkay, Siri can\u2019t even set timers anymore,\u201d and \u201cSiri isn\u2019t Siri anymore.\u201d It makes for pretty grim reading, and it seems to have only become worse in recent months.<\/p>\n You may like<\/p>\n While Siri wowed the world when it launched in 2011, it was swiftly overtaken by its rivals \u2013 even before AI assistants like ChatGPT<\/a> came along. With the advent of AI, Siri\u2019s weaknesses have been roundly exposed, prompting Apple to scramble to upgrade it. For more advanced requests, it can hand over to ChatGPT<\/a>, but that just goes to highlight its own limitations by way of comparison.<\/p>\n To put that right, Apple is working on a few new features that it unveiled at its WWDC 2024<\/a> back in June 2024. Back then, Apple said that Siri would soon come with better awareness of on-screen content, an understanding of your own personal context, and powerful tools for performing actions within apps.<\/p>\n But in March 2025<\/a>, Apple told pundit John Gruber that \u201cIt\u2019s going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features,\u201d with the firm adding that it would be rolling out \u201cin the coming year.\u201d While there was some hope that that would mean the features would arrive later in 2025, Apple confirmed at WWDC<\/a> 2025 that it is aiming for a 2026 launch<\/a>.<\/p>\n Considering how lackluster many of Siri\u2019s features feel compared to its competitors, that could feel like a long wait.
