Piers Morgan<\/a> is recovering in hospital from major surgery, sharing the details of a painful injury online.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 60-year-old broadcaster<\/a> opened up about the ordeal on Instagram and revealed that he tripped on a small step, but the injury was so severe he needed a hip replacement<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Alongside a selfie of himself in a hospital bed flashing a thumbs up to the camera, he shared the “breaking news” about the accident.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“1. Tripped on small step. 2. In a London hotel restaurant. 3. Fell like a sack of spuds.\u00a04. Fractured neck of femur,” Morgan wrote via X and Instagram<\/a> on Sunday, January 18.<\/p>\n

He revealed that the fracture was so bad he needed a new hip, and will be on crutches for the next six weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He is also not allowed to fly long-haul for the next 12 weeks, and joked that the New Year is off to a cracking start.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Morgan seemed to be in high spirits in the selfie, despite being hooked up to oxygen and more in his hospital bed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The post has been flooded with messages from fans across the world, wishing him a speedy recovery.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The controversial columnist responded to some comments, admitting to one following that “the same of it all is worse than the pain!”<\/p>\n

In 2019, he shared that he was diagnosed and hospitalised with stomach gastritis and duodenitis.<\/p>\n
