{"id":424449,"date":"2026-01-20T01:45:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T01:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/424449\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T01:45:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T01:45:09","slug":"womens-basketball-falls-52-68-at-columbia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/424449\/","title":{"rendered":"Women\u2019s Basketball Falls 52-68 at Columbia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NEW YORK, N.Y. &#8211; The Brown women&#8217;s basketball team (11-5, 3-1 Ivy) fell to the Columbia Lions (12-5, 3-1 Ivy) 52-68 on Monday afternoon inside of Levien Gymnasium, marking the Bears&#8217; first conference loss of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Senior guard <a href=\"https:\/\/brownbears.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/grace-arnolie\/22883\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"22883\" target=\"_blank\">Grace Arnolie<\/a> led the Bears in scoring, netting 21 points in the Monday matinee. Arnolie&#8217;s 21 points marks her fourth consecutive 20+ point game of the season. She now ranks ninth in career scoring in program history. Arnolie closed out the contest shooting 50% from the floor, 63% from beyond the arc, and 100% from the free-throw line.<\/p>\n<p>Senior forward <a href=\"https:\/\/brownbears.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/alyssa-moreland\/22887\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"22887\" target=\"_blank\">Alyssa Moreland<\/a> posted her eighth double-double of the season, and 12th of her career with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Moreland was the second-highest scorer in Brown&#8217;s lineup this afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Columbia opened up the game with a 13-0 run that was put to an end by a free-throw from Moreland. Moreland posted four-straight baskets before senior forward <a href=\"https:\/\/brownbears.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/ada-anamekwe\/22893\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"22893\" target=\"_blank\">Ada Anamekwe<\/a> chipped in with four free-throws to end the first quarter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Four Bears combined for 14 points in the second quarter, outscoring the Lions 14-10. Brown trailed by 10 points heading into the break.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A three-pointer from Arnolie around the three minute mark of the third quarter brought the Bears within eight points of the Lions at 30-38. Scoring bounced back and forth for the remainder of the quarter, with the Bears trying to close in on the Lions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Arnolie opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer, setting the tone for the Bears in their final 10 minutes of play. Back-to-back three-pointers from Arnolie, paired with baskets from Anamekwe and Moreland left Brown with just four points separating them and Columbia. Following two free-throws from senior forward <a href=\"https:\/\/brownbears.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/beth-nelson\/22899\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"22899\" target=\"_blank\">Beth Nelson<\/a>, the Lions went on an 11-0 run to close out the contest. First-year <a href=\"https:\/\/brownbears.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/isabella-wesley\/22936\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"22936\" target=\"_blank\">Isabella Wesley<\/a> netted the final basket of the game, putting the Bears at 52 points for the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Up Next<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Bears will return home to host No. 22 Princeton on Saturday, Jan. 24. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside of the Pizzitola Sports Center.
