{"id":425135,"date":"2026-01-20T09:09:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T09:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/425135\/"},"modified":"2026-01-20T09:09:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T09:09:08","slug":"mental-health-trust-could-see-budget-gap-of-29m-next-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/425135\/","title":{"rendered":"Mental health trust could see budget gap of \u00a329m next year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The trust was previously called one of the worst-performing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-norfolk-5110631\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">mental health trusts<\/a> in the country, having been in and out of special measures for nearly a decade. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/ceq0jvllr9eo\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">removed from special measures in February 2025<\/a> and now has an overall rating of Good, with some areas rated as Requires Improvement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">For 2025-26, it had a planned income of \u00a3375m, but in a report to Suffolk County Council, the trust outlined financial challenges for the next financial year. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It said it would still need to find \u00a318.7m &#8211; or 5% &#8211; in efficiencies in 2025-26, was &#8220;facing a gap to break even&#8221; of \u00a329.6m in 2026-27, and was looking to make &#8220;permanent efficiencies&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Passingham was concerned this could mean jobs would be lost.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;You just don&#8217;t take \u00a329.6m out of the service and expect there to be no impact on jobs or services,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;When you see that your employer is being required to make \u00a329m worth of savings, you can&#8217;t help but wonder and worry if that means your job is going to go or get harder and worse.&#8221; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The trust was previously called one of the worst-performing mental health trusts in the country, having been in&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":425136,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[35],"tags":[64,63,137,514,515],"class_list":{"0":"post-425135","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-mental-health","8":"tag-au","9":"tag-australia","10":"tag-health","11":"tag-mental-health","12":"tag-mentalhealth"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/425135","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=425135"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/425135\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/425136"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=425135"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=425135"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=425135"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
