TV presenter Declan Donnelly has spoken about how he suffers from a \u201cconstant anxiety\u201d that he should always be doing something and \u201ccan never sit down\u201d.<\/p>\n
Donnelly said he had therapy about five or six years ago and \u201creally got a lot out of it\u201d.<\/p>\n
The I\u2019m Celebrity\u2026Get Me Out Of Here! host was speaking on Fearne Cotton\u2019s Happy Place podcast with co-presenter and long-time collaborator\u00a0Anthony McPartlin.<\/p>\n
They shot to fame as teenagers and are known as Ant and Dec. They spoke about fatherhood and how they have come to appreciate their long-running careers more as they have got older.<\/p>\n
There’s that anxiety that there’s a job that needs to be done somewhere and I should be doing it<\/p>\n

Asked about his mental health, Donnelly said: \u201cI struggle a bit with, it\u2019s kind of a low level, constant anxiety about \u2018should be doing this\u2019 or \u2018I\u2019ve got to be doing\u2026<\/p>\n
\u201cI never feel I can sit down and just watch telly, I always feel like I should be doing something else. There\u2019s that anxiety that there\u2019s a job that needs to be done somewhere and I should be doing it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI struggle with that a lot, with trying to calm that voice in the back of your head that\u2019s going, \u2018no, you should be using this time more productively\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cI went through a period of having therapy about five, five or six years ago. I really got a lot out of it. I really enjoyed it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Donnelly said he went away for a while and when he tried to book another appointment, the therapist said he was unable to see him.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cHe did recommend somebody else and I\u2019ve still got those details, I just haven\u2019t managed to make an appointment yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
Donnelly, who said it was the very first time they had ever been on a podcast, said they take their jobs \u201cincredibly seriously\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Geordie men have hosted a number of primetime entertainment shows over the years, including Ant And Dec\u2019s Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain\u2019s Got Talent and Ant And Dec\u2019s Limitless Win.<\/p>\n
Donnelly said: \u201cWhen we\u2019re looking at projects, we always look at how can we get the whole family together?<\/p>\n
\u201cTo entertain the whole family is no mean feat, and you\u2019ve got to try and grab each generation and entertain them. It\u2019s entertainment, it\u2019s fun, but we take it incredibly seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n
McPartlin added: \u201cWe do the best job in the world. We have a laugh every day.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve hosted some turkeys over the years. It hasn\u2019t always been a success.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a privilege to be in someone\u2019s living room on a Saturday night hosting a big show.\u201d<\/p>\n
Talking of fatherhood, McPartlin said he now has to be careful of his language around his 19-month-old son.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m getting told off a lot for swearing in the house,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Donnelly told the podcast that his daughter, Isla, seven, asks to watch I\u2019m Celebrity\u2026Get Me Out Of Here! but he is reluctant as it is broadcast after the watershed.<\/p>\n
He said he also has a three-year-old son, Jack, adding: \u201cI\u2019m not sure my kids should be watching my TV show.\u201d<\/p>\n
They also said they are fronting their own podcast series together, Hanging Out With Ant & Dec, which launches later this week.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s really exciting,\u201d Donnelly said, adding they recorded a pilot for a podcast \u201cabout 15 years ago\u201d in a pub, but did not pursue it at the time.<\/p>\n
They apologised last week after they promoted the new podcast with a video that was criticised for its\u00a0\u201csuicide imagery\u201d of feet dangling above the ground.<\/p>\n
