Jeremy Jacquet turned down an approach from Arsenal at the start of the transfer window, according to a report from France.\"JeremyPhoto via Jacquet on Instagram<\/p>\n

Santi Aouna reports for Foot Mercato<\/a> that Arsenal were targeting a move for Jeremy Jacquet<\/a> at the start of the summer transfer window, but the player opted instead to sign a contract extension with Rennes to 2029.<\/p>\n

Fabrizio Romano<\/a> had reported that Arsenal had already made an approach for Jacquet as a potential summer signing, in case of a departure for Oleksandr Zinchenko<\/a> or Jakub Kiwior<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s not clear whether Romano is referring to that move at the start of the summer or another more recent attempt at the signing.<\/p>\n

Either way, with Jacquet\u2019s new contract in place, his club are in a strong negotiating position. Romano adds that Rennes consider the centre-back \u2018not for sale\u2019 this summer.<\/p>\n

The Gunners reportedly remain keen, and if they can\u2019t sign the player now, they\u2019ll be interested again in 2026.<\/p>\n

There are just evidently a lot of pieces that need to fall into place before a move would be possible this month, and it doesn\u2019t seem like the player or his club are particularly keen right now.<\/p>\n

20-year-old Jacquet has already made 18 appearances in Ligue 1 for Clermont Foot and Rennes.<\/p>\n

After coming through the academy system at Rennes, the defender spent a year on loan with Clermont Foot from January 2024 to January 2025. After impressing in his time away, he then broke into the starting lineup with his parent club upon his return before signing his new contract.<\/p>\n

Internationally, Jacquet has played for France up to u21 level, making his debut for the u21 side in March.<\/p>\n
