The family of a 27-year-old man bitten by a shark at Manly beach on Monday is calling for “positive energy” for his recovery.<\/p>\n
Andre de Ruyter is described in a social media post written by his mother Lisa as a “compassionate talented musician, graphic artist and lover of surfing”.<\/p>\n
“We ask for mindful care and respect of our son’s privacy till the path forward is clearer,” she said.<\/p>\n
“We ask for positive energy around his recovery and will give more information when he is ready.”<\/p>\n
Mr de Ruyter was rushed to hospital in a critical condition on Monday after being bitten by what was suspected to be a bull shark.<\/p>\n
His family says he is now in a stable condition.<\/p>\n
Mr de Ruyter was one of four people attacked by sharks along the NSW coast over 48 hours earlier this week.<\/p>\n
The other incidents were at Dee Why Beach, Vaucluse, inside Sydney Harbour, and at Point Plomer between Crescent Head and Port Macquarie on the state’s Mid North Coast.<\/p>\n
