After eight weeks of show-stopping performances<\/a>, glamorous outfits, and the occasional tense interaction with the judges<\/a>, this year\u2019s season of Dancing With The Stars<\/a> officially came to an end on Monday night. The grand finale saw six celebrity contestants hitting the dance floor one last time, with Brittany Hockley, Felicity Ward<\/a>, Kyle Shilling, Michael Usher, Shaun Micallef, and Trent Cotchin all vying for the coveted mirrorball trophy.<\/p>\n

Once the judges\u2019 scores were combined with the votes from the live studio audience, it was revealed that Home and Away<\/a> star Kyle Shilling and comedian and actor Shaun Micallef were the top two contestants. The public then voted for their favourite performance, before hosts Sonia Kruger<\/a> and Dr Chris Brown announced the winner.<\/p>\n

In the end, it was Kyle Shilling and his partner Lily Cornish who were crowned this year\u2019s Dancing With The Stars champions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m feeling mixed emotions, as it\u2019s come to an end,\u201d he said. \u201cWe built such a strong family here and you can see all the beautiful people behind us. It\u2019s amazing to be able to stand here and hold this trophy, knowing all the hard work we put in has paid off.\u201d<\/p>\n

This marks Lily’s second Dancing With The Stars win after she took home the mirrorball trophy alongside Grant Denyer<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n

Kyle’s ‘exceptional’ finale performance<\/p>\n

Kyle was one of the most consistent performers this season and received a perfect score of 40 from the judges in his third week.<\/p>\n

The actor was also given top marks for his freestyle performance in the grand finale honouring his First Nation’s culture, which the judges described as \u201cexceptional\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really loved the way you honoured your culture, I thought it was just so beautiful,\u201d Helen Richey<\/a> said. \u201cI\u2019ve been on this show from the very, very beginning. [That was] one of the best performances I\u2019ve ever seen. It touched me like that, so thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Do Dancing With The Stars winners receive prize money?<\/p>\n

Similar to other star-studded reality shows, Dancing With The Stars’ champions win money for their chosen charity.<\/p>\n

Kyle’s victory raises funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which provides access to books and literacy programs for Indigenous children and allows them to have a proper education growing up.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, it was leaked earlier in the season<\/a> that Kyle was reportedly paid $27,000 to take part in the competition. This is compared to his co-stars Rebecca Gibney<\/a>, Osher G\u00fcnsberg<\/a>, and Shaun Micallef, who were all rumoured to be earning $100,000 for their appearance on the Channel 7 reality show.<\/p>\n
