Panthers trainer Corey Bocking has been described as \u201cthe dumbest trainer we\u2019ve ever had\u201d during a fiery discussion on NRL 360 over the incident where he impeded Titans star Jayden Campbell in the act of kicking a goal.<\/p>\n
With the Titans leading 26-24 late in the game on Saturday, Bocking ran into Campbell\u2019s line of vision as he was about to take a shot at goal, to Campbell\u2019s disgust.<\/p>\n
Campbell missed the conversion attempt, which would have given the Titans a 28-24 lead.<\/p>\n

Limited-time offer ><\/a><\/p>\n The miss proved to be crucial, given that Panthers halfback Nathan Cleary levelled the game at 26-all in regular time with a two-point field goal, before Blaize Talagi scored a try in golden point to give Penrith a thrilling 30-26 win.<\/p>\n The Panthers were sensationally fined $50,000 and Bocking was suspended for five games <\/a>over the incident.<\/p>\n Host Braith Anasta took aim at Bocking, believing his actions were one of two things.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s either the dumbest trainer we\u2019ve ever had or he\u2019s done it on purpose,\u201d Anasta said.<\/p>\n \u201cBecause you don\u2019t see it and it\u2019s unprofessional, it was out of line, it could have cost them the game.<\/p>\n \u201cWe don\u2019t see it for a reason because when you\u2019re a trainer, you know that is a no go. That is out of limits and you just don\u2019t do it.<\/p>\n \u201cSo it\u2019s either one of the stupidest things he\u2019s ever done in his life, or he\u2019s meant it. It\u2019s one or the other.\u201d<\/p>\n Co-host Gorden Tallis was livid as the panel were left divided on the situation.<\/p>\n When asked if the punishment was enough, Tallis said: \u201cProbably not.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cGo ask the Broncos, would they pay $50,000 for two extra points? Because I reckon Penrith will finish fourth.\u201d<\/p>\n Panellist Phil Rothfield had a different view. <\/p>\n \u201cYou don\u2019t know that he was going to kick that goal,\u201d Rothfield said.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen do the bottom teams get the rub of the green?\u201d Tallis asked.<\/p>\n \u201cThat there is unacceptable.<\/p>\n \u201cJust imagine if the Titans win that, and Penrith don\u2019t finish in the top four.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a bigger mountain to climb.\u201d<\/p>\n Reporter Brent Read felt it wasn\u2019t worth speculating on the what the outcome might have been if Campbell had have landed the conversion.<\/p>\n \u201cWho knows what happens in that game if they kick that goal? The whole game changes,\u201d Read said.<\/p>\n \u201cSo you think that\u2019s fair then?\u201d Tallis asked Read.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s fair but I think the punishment\u2019s fair,\u201d Read replied.<\/p>\n \u201cIf anything, the punishment\u2019s actually really severe.
