Love Island Australia<\/a> star Matt Zukowski<\/a> lifted the lid on his complicated marriage to ex Tammy Hembrow<\/a> and revealed how he felt about her romance with AFL player Bailey Smith<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The husband and wife publicly separated in June 2025<\/a> after seven months of marriage and in August 2025 Hembrow, 31, was spotted on a date with Smith, 24.<\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking on The Kyle & Jackie O Show<\/a>, Matt described the move as “a knife to the chest”. He continued that wasn’t jealous of the photos, but rather he was shocked.<\/p>\n

“\ufeffNo one likes to see the person they used to love and married hooking up with someone else. Like, that’s a knife to anyone’s chest,” he said.<\/p>\n

Matt elaborated on the recent revelation that even before they were married, he and Tammy weren’t in a good place.<\/p>\n

Backing his claim, Matt admitted: \ufeff”I don’t think I’m the first person in history to think that a marriage is going to fix the problems in a relationship.<\/p>\n

“And like I said, it didn’t. It just progressively got worse.”<\/p>\n

Matt confirmed to Kyle and Jackie O that he “hasn’t spoken” to his mega influencer ex-wife since they announced their divorce.<\/p>\n

“No contact at all.”<\/p>\n

At the time of their divorce, Matt said he and Tammy just “weren’t right for each other”<\/a> and that he hadn’t spoke too much about the split because “not many people understand the ins and outs of” their relationship.<\/p>\n

We now learn, it was quite a complicated one. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Tammy at the time said she felt there was “no other option”<\/a> but to end the marriage.\ufeff<\/p>\n

In June, Tammy, \ufeff31, took to TikTok to make a video statement to fans saying she was “heartbroken” and “humiliated” over the end of her marriage to Matt.<\/p>\n

While Matt released a written statement of his own to his Instagram followers.<\/p>\n

Tammy addressed her 2.1 million TikTok followers: “I wanted to finally tell you guys that I am going to be getting a divorce. I know a lot of you have been following my journey for years so I wanted to be open about it.”<\/p>\n

She held back tears as she explained she married thinking it would be “forever” and didn’t want to get into the details of why the marriage broke down.\ufeff<\/p>\n

“I’m not one to bring anyone down. I want to be sensitive to everyone involved and I don’t want to talk about anyone but myself,” she said.<\/p>\n

“I blame no one but myself, I haven’t made the best choices when it comes to relationships and I’m really good at putting on rose-coloured glasses.”<\/p>\n

Matt announced the split by penning a message to his 135,000 Instagram followers.<\/p>\n

“It is with a heavy heart I share that Tammy and I have decided to separate,” he wrote.<\/p>\n

“Both of us have struggled with making this decision however; we need to do what is right for ourselves and he\ufeffr three children.”<\/p>\n

Speaking on his podcast Where’s Your Head At?<\/a> three weeks later, Matt added: “I know there’s a lot of whispers and rumours online, and people are wanting to hear the ins and outs of our relationship and what happened that led to us separating.<\/p>\n

“But you got to remember that this is real life and I’m still processing it in real time.<\/p>\n

“I also have too much respect for our relationship and what we had. Plus, there are three beautiful children involved, so my priority is focusing on healing and reconnecting with myself and feeling happy again.”\ufeff<\/p>\n

Tammy and Matt’s relationship timeline<\/p>\n

Tammy, who boasts a 16 million-strong Instagram following, is often thought of as Australia’s most well-known influencer.<\/p>\n

The pair struck up a romance after Matt slid into Tammy’s DMs. Matt “hard launched” his relationship with her in a sweet Instagram post in October 2023.<\/a><\/p>\n

By December 2023, the couple were engaged<\/a> with Matt getting down on one knee on a beach in the Maldives.<\/p>\n

Matt and Tammy officially tied the knot in November 2024<\/a> and celebrated with a lavish Byron Bay celebration.<\/p>\n
