Police say a man feared to be missing has been found off Western Australia’s Midwest coast.<\/p>\n

Geraldton police launched a search for 61-year-old Kenneth Darrell Robinson after his boat was found empty about 11:15am today.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said Mr Robinson was found in the water just before 2:30pm near Geraldton’s Sunset Beach.<\/p>\n

Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) Midwest District Officer Simon Miller said Mr Robinson had been in the water for at least 3 hours when he was rescued.<\/p>\n

“The fact he was wearing a life jacket was a positive and definitely aided in his successful rescue,” Mr Miller said.<\/p>\n

“People not wearing a life jacket when they enter the water, their chances of survival significantly decrease.”<\/p>\n

He said Mr Robinson was treated for hypothermia before being taken to shore, where they were met by St John Ambulance, before the 61-year-old was taken to hospital for further treatment.<\/p>\n

“He was conscious and happy to see the rescuers,” Mr Miller said.<\/p>\n

About 10 sea rescue volunteers were praised for dropping everything and joining the search this morning.<\/p>\n

Police believe Mr Robinson went to the Francis Street boat ramp about 7:30am.<\/p>\n

They said Mr Robinson was the solo occupant of a vessel which was launched from the boat ramp.<\/p>\n
