An elite Sydney<\/a> school has paused small boat training after a shark leapt from the water just metres from young rowers.<\/p>\n

Students from The King\u2019s School are believed to have been taking part in a holiday rowing session on the Parramatta River at Silverwater on Monday when the shark breached the water about 30m away.<\/p>\n

Shocking vision shows the shark leaping from the river and twisting mid-air before splashing back into the water.<\/p>\n

The rowers returned to the pontoon immediately, master in charge of rowing Billy Richards told The Daily Telegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cA shark was observed breaching the surface of the water approximately 30m in front of our 1st Junior VIII boat,\u201d Richards said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt no time were the boys in immediate danger, and the crew returned to the pontoon without incident.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said they are enhancing safety measures as a result and the private school has reportedly temporarily suspended small boat training.<\/p>\n

The incident comes as NSW grapples with a spate of shark attacks in less than 48 hours.<\/p>\n

The first victim, 12-year-old Nico Antic,<\/a> was bitten after jumping off a 6m rock with two mates in Vaucluse about 4.20pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n

His parents are now dealing with the \u201cworst possible outcome\u201d after he suffered severe leg injuries.<\/p>\n

On Monday, 27-year-old surfer Andre de Ruyter<\/a> was mauled at North Steyne Beach and underwent surgery for severe injuries to his lower right leg.<\/p>\n

About 30 beaches remain closed, including along the 30km coastline marking Sydney\u2019s Northern Beaches<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Swimming events have been cancelled and the public urged to avoid the ocean and opt for pools.<\/p>\n
