IT\u2019S a matter of when, not if, Brad Jones Racing will have the opportunity to flourish with its new Toyota Supra, according to recruit Cameron Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hill is coming off a strong 2025 season in which he entered Supercars\u2019 winners list before inking a multi-year deal to join BJR.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a relatively quiet summer for the Canberran as he awaits fatherhood status any day now, and a maiden drive of the V8 Toyota.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we all view this as a fantastic opportunity to get BJR back to the front of the grid,\u201d Hill, who visited the Albury workshop last week, told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t that long ago that they were third in the teams\u2019 championship, so we want to get up the pointy end again.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe sort of spoke about how we want to approach it and obviously with the new car there could be challenges, but the priority for us is we just work really well together as a team and all the engineers and drivers agree on that: if we\u2019re strong as a group, then everyone will benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both his teammates Andr\u00e9 Heimgartner<\/a> and Macauley Jones<\/a>, and both Walkinshaw TWG Racing drivers Chaz Mostert<\/a> and Ryan Wood<\/a> have now sampled the Supra, leaving Hill as the last man standing.<\/p>\n

He also has the biggest degree of unknown among the quintet given he is the only one changing team from 2025 to \u201826.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m coming in very open-minded,\u201d said Hill.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I was sort of discussing with the guys at BJR, there\u2019s going to come a time when we get the opportunity to shine this year and whether that\u2019s at the very first round or a little bit later once we\u2019ve got a handle on it, we have just got to make sure we can make the most of the opportunity when it comes.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, it\u2019s exciting. It\u2019s a new challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n

A core part of slowing down over the off-season has revolved around playing padel with fellow Canberran Supercars steerer Zach Bates<\/a> and the latter\u2019s rallying cousins Harry and Lewis.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the moment I think (Zach) is undefeated but it\u2019s probably more that his cousin Lewis is probably the best of us. They always play together; he won\u2019t mind me saying that!\u201d said Hill.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe and Harry, we still need to pick up our game if we\u2019re going to beat them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking to the on-track action ahead, blending Hill\u2019s qualifying speed with Heimgartner\u2019s long-run prowess should make for an intriguing combo atop BJR\u2019s line-up.<\/p>\n

\u201cAndr\u00e9, he is a great racing car driver. Sometimes you don\u2019t actually see him until the second half of the race and all of a sudden he has found himself in a good spot and that\u2019s because he is very good at getting the most out of the car and he\u2019s a very consistent, fast driver,\u201d said Hill.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no doubt things that I\u2019m going to learn from him and if I can bring something to the table as well, that\u2019d be good.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne thing that really encourages me is I can see at BJR we\u2019ve got a really strong brains trust, we\u2019ve got a lot of experience in the engineering department and we\u2019ve also got a few young guys as well who are very talented.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is talking about how we can all row in the same direction and try to find what works for these race cars.\u201d<\/p>\n
