Kylie Minogue shared a heartfelt tribute to her late ex-boyfriend, Michael Hutchence, who would have turned 66 on his birthday.<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s pop princess took to Instagram on Thursday to share a grainy photograph of the pair hugging inside a house when they were a couple in the early 1990s.<\/p>\n

\u201cSelfie mode,\u201d the 57-year-old superstar captioned the tribute.<\/p>\n

Friends and fans flooded the comments section with birthday messages for the INXS rocker who tragically took his own life at the age of 37 on November 22, 1997.<\/p>\n

Comedian Celeste Barber wrote: \u201cThank you for this. \u2764\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

One fan wrote: \u201cHappy birthday, Michael and what a sweet way to celebrate him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWow. You were so gorgeous together,\u201d another fan wrote.<\/p>\n

A third fan added: \u201cHappy birthday Michael. \ud83d\udc99 \u201cCause we all have wings. But some of us don\u2019t know why.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI tell my daughter that he was my Harry Styles,\u201d another Instagram user wrote.<\/p>\n

Another wrote: \u201cBeautiful. Happy birthday Michael.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minogue and Hutchence went public with their relationship in 1989 at the premiere of The Delinquents in which Minogue starred as rebellious blonde Lola Lovell.<\/p>\n

In 2020, the Padam Padam singer revealed that the character served as Hutchence\u2019s inspiration for his hit song \u201cSuicide Blonde.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSuicide Blonde came from me talking about my character in The Delinquents; we met just after that,\u201d she told News Corp.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy hairdresser called the (colour of the) wig I had to wear \u2018suicide blonde\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the documentary Mystify: Michael Hutchence, released in 2019, Kylie spoke about her relationship with the Never Tear Us Apart singer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt protected. He had insatiable curiosity, all the good things in life and some of the bad,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe opened up a whole new world for me. A lot of it was based around pleasure, let\u2019s face it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ultimately, he ended up breaking her heart and Kylie was left unsure about why they split.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt felt loving, yet sad and probably doomed. We talked through things and I couldn\u2019t give you an actual reason (as to why it happened),\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI left pretty confounded and destroyed, and I knew that was… that was it. Yeah, he broke my heart. I have to confess, the hurt stays for quite a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following his relationship with Minogue, the troubled rock star dated supermodel Helena Christensen in 1991.<\/p>\n

He then began a tumultuous relationship with Paula Yates, with whom he welcomed his only child, daughter Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof, now 24.<\/p>\n
