{"id":432312,"date":"2026-01-23T13:58:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T13:58:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/432312\/"},"modified":"2026-01-23T13:58:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T13:58:07","slug":"alex-lowes-like-a-big-kid-during-limited-jerez-world-superbike-test-running","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/432312\/","title":{"rendered":"Alex Lowes \u201clike a big kid\u201d during limited Jerez World Superbike test running"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bimota\u2019s Alex Lowes was \u201clike a big kid\u201d during the Jerez World Superbike test, but limited running due to the weather meant he couldn\u2019t focus on trying new parts.<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 World Superbike season is just a month away from its opening round, with testing beginning this week at Jerez.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/results\/1088604\/1\/january-2026-jerez-worldsbk-test-day-2-thursday-results\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The two-day test<\/a> on Wednesday and Thursday was severely impacted by poor weather, leading to limited running for most of the riders present.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crash.net\/wsbk\/racer\/995628\/alex-lowes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alex Lowes<\/a> was second-fastest at the end of Thursday\u2019s running, as he gears up for his second season racing under the Bimota banner.<\/p>\n<p>The Briton managed just 16 laps when conditions improved enough for slicks on the final day, but could do no more than briefly try some new forks.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, unfortunately, it\u2019s been a lot of bad weather,\u201d he said on the official World Superbike website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday in the afternoon, we finally got on track with the slick tyres on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter waiting around all week, it was mega to get out. I was like a big kid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still really, really enjoyed it. Apart from that, to really start getting to work, we didn\u2019t have enough laps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I did only 16 laps. So, it wasn\u2019t enough laps to really start focusing on the new parts.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, nice to get out, but a little bit frustrating that we couldn\u2019t get more work done.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cJust started to try some new front forks from Showa in this run, but I arrived at Turn 6, and it was raining.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got a few laps, a first feeling, but not really one where I could decide if it was better or worse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe electronics is a constant evolution in World Superbikes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, trying some things on the electronics that felt quite good. I picked up the feeling I had in November straight away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>World Superbike testing continues next week in Portimao, with Lowes hopeful of better weather offering more useful track time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope for better weather in Portimao to confirm the components we want to use at Philip Island,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it\u2019s good weather, we\u2019ll try to do a lot more laps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll work on my feelings with the bike; we&#8217;ve changed it a lot since we were last here [at Jerez], and since the test here in November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy feeling has been really good with the new bike, but I\u2019ve only tested it at this new track, so I need to try the new setup at a new track, it would be fantastic if I could keep the same feeling but that\u2019s not how it works, if it\u2019s wet both days in Portimao, I\u2019ll ride in the rain.<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn general, didn\u2019t get too many laps in, but I\u2019m really happy to be back to work with the team.
