Josh Daume<\/a> announced today that Janae Scott has been named Head Coach of the Women’s Flag Football program set to begin competition in 2026-2027. \u00a0Daume previously announced the addition of Women’s Flag Football as the college’s 20th varsity sport on September 18.<\/p>\n“I’m excited to get Janae on campus, and work with her as we build our Flag Football program,” Daume stated.\u00a0 “She has a championship pedigree and knows what it takes to win at a high level in the NAIA. The vision she presented to us focused on building a team of high character, hard-working students who will represent McPherson College the right way. Further, as a member of the US National Team, she is very connected throughout the country which will be beneficial as she begins to assemble our inaugural team”<\/p>\n
Scott is a graduate of Thomas University (GA) where she was a key member of the flag football team and was a part of two national runner-up teams. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. \u00a0She earned first-team all-Sun Conference honors three times and was the conference Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore. She was also recognized as the conference Champion of Character award recipient twice. More recently, Scott served as Graduate Assistant and Defensive Coordinator at Maharishi International University.<\/p>\n
“I’m grateful for this opportunity and I am excited to be a part of the Bulldog family. I look forward to developing the next generation of flag football athletes and giving them the opportunity to compete at the college level,” stated Scott. “I’ve been involved in this sport for 20 years, and what started out as something fun has turned into something that became a major part of my life and helped fund my education. I now get to help other women in football do the same thing.”<\/p>\n
A native of Tallahassee, FL, Scott is currently an alternate on the US National Team with hopes of competing in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. She is 1 of only 18 women who were invited to the US National Team Training Camp.
