{"id":433713,"date":"2026-01-24T04:50:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-24T04:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/433713\/"},"modified":"2026-01-24T04:50:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-24T04:50:14","slug":"indra-brown-wins-x-games-silver-on-debut-ahead-of-2026-winter-olympic-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/433713\/","title":{"rendered":"Indra Brown wins X-Games silver on debut ahead of 2026 Winter Olympic Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Indra Brown has once again proved that no stage is too big for her burgeoning talent, winning a superb silver medal on her X-Games debut in the Aspen superpipe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Fresh off being named for her first Winter Olympics team for Milan Cortina, the 15-year-old showed the world her meteoric rise on the World Cup circuit has been no fluke, firmly putting herself in medal contention in Milan next month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;I feel like she&#8217;s just building momentum, building confidence,&#8221; two-time freestyle skiing X-Games gold medallist Maggie Voisin said in commentary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;She&#8217;s like, I have three World Cup podiums, I now have an X-Games podium. Why not an Olympic medal?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2026-01-23\/indra-brown-australia-15-year-old-freeski-halfpipe-star\/106220172\" data-component=\"FullBleedLink\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The 15yo schoolgirl who has taken the Freeski world by storm<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">When 15-year-old Indra Brown reached the podium in her first World Cup event, she needed help from global superstar Eileen Gu to pop the cork on her champagne. She&#8217;s had plenty more practice since, as she heads into the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Australia&#8217;s chef de mission Alissa Camplin-Warner said she did not want Brown to put too much pressure on herself at these Olympics when she announced the squad on Friday in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;What I hope is that she can just be open to the whole experience, enjoy it and not heap too much pressure on herself,&#8221; Camplin-Warner said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">But her performances have been such that there will doubtless be a clamour for the youngster when shen takes to the slopes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Despite the tricky conditions, with heavy snow slowing the pipe, the Melbourne teen opened up the competition with a hugely impressive score of 80.00 that put her in fourth place after round one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Despite being the youngest competitor at this year&#8217;s X-Games, Brown typically showed no nerves at the world&#8217;s foremost extreme sport showcase.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Brown delighted the crowd with flawless back-to-back 900s, following up with a 720, back-to-back switch 360s and a big alley-oop to finish.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Indra Brown pictured in the air completing a trick.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/6f171749bb4084194abe48d4328282c3.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Indra Brown claimed a sensational silver.
