{"id":433880,"date":"2026-01-24T06:38:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-24T06:38:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/433880\/"},"modified":"2026-01-24T06:38:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-24T06:38:09","slug":"the-jungle-giants-to-play-bbl-final-at-optus-stadium-on-sunday-ahead-of-releasing-new-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/433880\/","title":{"rendered":"The Jungle Giants to play BBL final at Optus Stadium on Sunday ahead of releasing new music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\"><a class=\"css-445i33-StyledTextLink ezegcyi0\" data-link-type=\"article-inline\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.perthnow.com.au\/entertainment\/music\/here-comes-the-sun-music-festival-featuring-lime-cordiale-the-jungle-giants-coming-to-margaret-river-for-wsl-c-21327264\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Jungle Giants<\/a> frontman Sam Hales says cricket fans at the BBL final on Sunday can expect a halftime show full of \u201cpure, high energy\u201d and teased new music coming next month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">The lead songwriter of the popular Aussie indie rock band will be flying into Perth from Melbourne on Saturday, where he hopes to soak up the sunshine at <a class=\"css-445i33-StyledTextLink ezegcyi0\" data-link-type=\"article-inline\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.perthnow.com.au\/wa\/cottesloe-billboard-under-fire-for-using-image-of-sunburnt-woman-to-promote-etto-products--c-21326376\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cottesloe Beach<\/a> before playing to a sea of orange at Optus Stadium for the season decider.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">The band will headline entertainment at the final, taking to the KFC FLG stage for two sets \u2013 one pre-game, and another during the innings break.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Hales said while he was \u201cterrible\u201d at cricket, he was \u201chonoured\u201d to perform his first cricket show \u2014 with lead guitarist Cesira Aitken, a huge BBL fan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cI think it\u2019s going to be our biggest show ever, which is also insane,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cWe are going to be playing songs people know and love, but we\u2019ve pretty much tailored the halftime show to be specifically just pure, high energy. It\u2019s going to be quick, fast and extremely dramatic, which is what I\u2019m all about.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cI already know everyone\u2019s going to be vibing, and then we\u2019re just going to be there to sprinkle a little bit of extra vibe on top.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">Fans can expect to hear old classic Used To Be in Love, which is Hales\u2019 current favourite track to play live as it \u201chits every time and it\u2019s nice to watch people sing\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">The band is also excited to be back in WA for the summer, with Fremantle a familiar favourite.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/daadf8a44fb7e056ee3c0629a9f657516a524f08.jpg\" alt=\"The Jungle Giants are performing at the BBL at Optus Stadium on Sunday.\" class=\"css-16r7l45-StyledImage en5ut4d0\"\/>Camera IconThe Jungle Giants are performing at the BBL at Optus Stadium on Sunday. I mean, I\u2019ve spent such a great deal of time in Fremantle as well, because we\u2019ve got lots of (music) friends of ours from there, Crooked Colours, San Cisco, Tame Impala. There\u2019s such a good scene just to be a part of. So I often explore certain parts of Fremantle, but this particular weekend, I\u2019m excited just to kick around Perth a little bit,\u201d Hales said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cI live in Melbourne, so the beach options are not that beautiful, if I\u2019m being honest. So I think I\u2019m just going to soak up as much as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">In terms of new music, Hales revealed the band has a new single coming out at the end of February before a new album is set to be released this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">The new album, partly written in Greece, comes five years after the group\u2019s last project, Love Signs and is inspired by Hales\u2019 breakup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cI\u2019m really excited to be kicking off 2026 with new music and a new, whole new album coming,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cFor me, it took a while, because when you have a breakup, there\u2019s a lot to process, right? But I\u2019m really proud of it. It pushes into new orchestral dance places that I haven\u2019t been to before. But also lyrically, I\u2019m super proud of this.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-9cqv6l-StyledPNParagraph e8utp6u0\">\u201cIt feels really fresh, new vocal style for me, and it bangs.
