It’s that time again, triple j has counted down the year’s Hottest 100 songs as voted by the public, celebrating all the incredible music that soundtracked our lives in 2025.<\/p>\n

British neo-soul singer Olivia Dean took out the coveted #1 spot<\/a>, with her gorgeous single Man I Need, in her first year in the annual countdown.<\/p>\n

Released in August, Olivia penned the track that changed her life in a house in East London, where she brought in her comforts from home \u2014 including her piano \u2014 building a warm, cosy space to create in.<\/p>\n

“I brought in photo frames, my mugs and my slippers,” Olivia told triple j’s Lucy Smith in October<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“So those home comforts, but also the band that I toured with \u2026 it just felt very communal. A gathering of people in a moment in time.”<\/p>\n

Brit Olivia Dean takes out the #1 on the triple j Hottest 100 of 2025 – as it happened<\/a><\/p>\n

After millions of votes from Australia and around the world, British artist Olivia Dean has topped the triple j Hottest 100 of 2025 with her song, Man I Need.<\/p>\n

Olivia has a special connection with us here in Australia, too. She used her set at Laneway Festival in 2025 to test out new music, which inspired her to build the rest of her second album, The Art Of Loving.<\/p>\n

“You know what’s crazy? I hadn’t even written most of the album at that point,” she told Concetta and Luka after her big win.<\/p>\n

“I had Nice To Each Other and I was like ‘Ok, I’m gonna come and test it out in Australia and New Zealand, because these guys will be a good vibe’.<\/p>\n

“Then after that tour I was inspired to write the rest of the album because I was like ‘I know what I need to do now’.”<\/p>\n

Olivia had another showing in the top end of the countdown at #7 with ‘Nice To Each Other’, the track she tested out on us nearly a year ago.<\/p>\n

The top 10 of the Hottest 100 of 2025 featured a healthy amount of countdown debutants, including smooth mover Keli Holiday with Dancing2 and schoolyard ratbags Playlunch with their bogan funk anthem Keith. Language warning for the latter!<\/p>\n

Hottest 100 stalwarts Ball Park Music, Spacey Jane and Tame Impala also place throughout the top 10, making this another strong showing from Australian acts<\/a>.<\/p>\n

10. Ball Park Music – Please Don’t Move To MelbourneLoading…<\/p>\n

Released in February, this desperate plea from the Brisbane five-piece was in the works for quite a few years before it fully fleshed out.<\/p>\n

The band has stressed it’s not a diss on the Victorian capital \u2014 the rival city could be replaced with anywhere that isn’t Brisbane \u2014 and is more about the yearning to not be abandoned by those you love. Oh, our hearts.<\/p>\n

9. Disco Lines & Tinashe – No Broke Boys<\/a>\u00a0\"Tinashe<\/p>\n

This remix of Tinashe\u2019s single went viral in 2025 before it even officially landed, clocking more than 40 million views on TikTok ahead of its release in June.<\/p>\n

Disco Lines\u2019s remix transformed Tinashe\u2019s R&B original into a club-pumping track, breathing a whole new life into it and locking it into the Hottest 100 of 2025.<\/p>\n

8. sombr – 12 to 12<\/a>\u00a0\"Sombr<\/p>\n

Another debutant in the countdown this year is sombr, whose highest showing saw him crack the top 10 with the fourth single from his debut album, I Barely Know Her.<\/p>\n

Released in July, the young nu-disco artist gives us \u201880s-inspired synth pop and new wave on 12 to 12, with flashes of 1970s funk and blues<\/p>\n

7. Olivia Dean – Nice To Each Other<\/a>\"Olivia<\/p>\n

Olivia Dean\u2019s four of five appearances in the countdown is one Australia has a special link to; we were one of the first to hear it while she tested it out at Laneway Festival in 2025.<\/p>\n

She officially released the track in late May, serving as the first single from her second album The Art Of Loving.<\/p>\n

6. Spacey Jane – Whateverrrr<\/a>\"Spacey<\/p>\n

The Perth indie rock outfit is no stranger to the Hottest 100, so seeing them in the top 10 is no surprise.<\/p>\n

Spacey Jane released their third studio album If That Makes Sense in May, and Whateverrrr was the final single before the album\u2019s release.<\/p>\n

That album went on to nab a J Award nomination for Album of the Year, further concreting them as triple j favourites<\/p>\n

5. RAYE – WHERE IS MY HUSBAND!<\/a>\"Raye<\/p>\n

Released in September and serving as the first taste of her upcoming second album This Music May Contain Hope, this is RAYE\u2019s only eligible track for the Hottest 100 of 2025.<\/p>\n

Another viral video in the top 10 list, it hit number one in the UK charts, becoming her second chart-topper behind Escapism in 2022.<\/p>\n

With her new album arriving in March, 2026 is set to be a big and bright one for the soul singer.<\/p>\n

4. Playlunch – Keith<\/a>\"Barry<\/p>\n

This one comes with a heavy language warning, with the Melbourne bogan-funk band gunning for the highest number of c-bombs in a single Hottest 100 entry.<\/p>\n

Released in June, the expletive-laden track taps into a deeply relatable experience: warring with your neighbours.<\/p>\n

Featuring a cheeky cameo in the music video from AFL legend and hard-hitter Barry Hall as the titular Keith, Playlunch lean into the lighter side of things in their debut Hottest 100 year.<\/p>\n

3. Tame Impala – Dracula<\/a>\"Kevin<\/p>\n

We\u2019re all saying \u2018Shut up Kevin, just get in the car\u2019 as he zoomed into a podium place in the Hottest 100 of 2025.<\/p>\n

The third single from Kevin Parker\u2019s fifth studio album Deadbeat, this was also the first Tame Impala song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and showcased Parker\u2019s exploration into a more grooving, electronic sound across the album.<\/p>\n

2. Keli Holiday – Dancing2Loading…<\/p>\n

It was a big Hottest 100 debut year for Keli Holiday as he stepped out solo from behind the decks as one half of Peking Duk.<\/p>\n

Written about his partner Abbie Chatfield, Dancing2 absolutely took off online when it was released in August, soundtracking everything from wedding receptions to finding a wig on the floor of the nightclub.<\/p>\n

In 2025 he was dancing, and we were all dancing too.<\/p>\n

1. Olivia Dean – Man I Need<\/a>\"Olivia<\/p>\n

It\u2019s clear that love was the winner in 2025, culminating in Olivia Dean\u2019s perfect, romantic track, Man I Need.<\/p>\n

Released in August and serving as the third single from her second album The Art Of Loving, voters clearly adored the English singer-songwriter, backing her in hard right across the Hottest 100 of 2025.<\/p>\n

You voted, it’s official \u2014 Olivia Dean has won the Hottest 100 of 2025 with her joyous track, ‘Man I Need’.<\/p>\n

The Hottest weekend continues on Sunday 25 January as Double J takes it back 20 years to the Hottest 100 of 2005<\/a> from 12pm local time, before trekking back to 1995 all week<\/a>.<\/p>\n
