Former Aston Martin Formula 1 technical director Dan Fallows has been named as the new technical director for Red Bull’s second F1 team Racing Bulls.<\/p>\n

Fallows will take on the role in April, presumably at the conclusion of his gardening leave from Aston Martin.<\/p>\n

He had been a big-name technical recruit for Aston Martin, and his signing in 2021 led to a year long battle with Red Bull<\/a> over when he would be released.<\/p>\n

But Fallows was moved on from his Aston Martin F1 role<\/a> after just a couple of seasons and then split with the company entirely.<\/p>\n

Racing Bulls’ new car, the VCARB 03, hit the track for the first time at Imola<\/a> earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Fallows said in the announcement that he’s joining at “an exciting time for the team”, though it will naturally be a while before a design he has had direct influence on will hit the track.<\/p>\n

“Dan has a wealth of experience, and his technical understanding and leadership will be a real asset to the team as we continue to develop and push forward competitively,” said team principal Alan Permane.<\/p>\n

The Racing Bulls technical director role had been vacant over the last year following the departure of Jody Egginton, who switched to another role within the wider company – becoming engineering director at Red Bull Advanced Technologies.<\/p>\n

Fallows famously has extensive history – spanning a decade and a half – at Red Bull, his time as a senior aerodynamics engineer at the team resulting in his subsequent move to Aston Martin.<\/p>\n
