He is known as \u201cThe Demon\u201d but there is one woman who has tamed Australian tennis champ Alex de Minaur.<\/p>\n

The world number six has opened up about his relationship with fiance Katie Boulter \u2013 crediting the British women’s number four tennis player with helping him stay grounded off the court.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe both know what our priorities are,\u201d de Minaur tells Body+Soul in an exclusive interview.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe said this on day one of the relationship: we put our careers first.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe great thing is we know what the other person is going through. We know those feelings, the deepest, darkest fears, and when we\u2019re feeling great or not feeling good about ourselves. That\u2019s where we can really help each other,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The couple met during the Covid pandemic in 2020 \u2013 bumping into each other while getting coffee at the same hotel they were both staying at \u2013 going Insta official with their relationship in March 2021.<\/p>\n

Boulter gushed about de Minaur in an interview with UK tabloid The Standard in 2022, telling the paper \u201cHe\u2019s so supportive of me in the job that I do and completely understands\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cNot many people do,\u201d Boulter said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo have that kind of connection where they know what you\u2019re going through, they know the lows and highs, it does feel very comforting. I\u2019m lucky to have him.\u201d<\/p>\n

With their respective tennis careers taking off, de Minaur \u2013 the current mens world number six \u2013 admitted supporting each other \u2013 even while performing at the same tournaments \u2013 is often tricky.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere have been moments where I would\u2019ve loved to come watch her, but I had to focus on my recovery,\u201d he told Body+Soul. \u201cAnd vice versa.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t take the support for granted, but we also don\u2019t make each other feel bad when we can\u2019t be there,\u201d de Minaur told the magazine.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s never because we don\u2019t want to be, it\u2019s because it\u2019s the smart thing to do for our careers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe same way she\u2019d never want me to jeopardise my own career to support her, I\u2019d never want her to jeopardise hers,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

De Minaur was in the stands at the Australian Open last week when Boulter crashed out in the first round, after going down to 10th seed Belinda Bencic. <\/p>\n

The 26-year-old revealed while the pair has finalised the wedding plans \u201cwe\u2019re going to keep it quite close, quite private, and it\u2019s going to be a great time\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019ll take some getting used to referring to Katie as the wife,\u201d he tells Body+Soul.<\/p>\n
