The 18-year-old couldn\u2019t replicate his Round 2 heroics when he shot -12 and broke the course record on the Nicklaus Tournament Course, but carded a solid -4 on the much tougher Pete Dye Tournament Course<\/p>\n
Brown finished birdie, birdie, birdie to record a third round 68. <\/p>\n
He\u2019s now -21 in a tie for second with World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who also shot a 68 and his chasing his 20th career PGA win.<\/p>\n
It sets up a tantalising final round group of Brown, Scheffler and Kim. <\/p>\n
The American Express uses three different golf courses (La Quinta, Nicklaus, Pete Dye) which the 156 players in the field each play once across the first three days.<\/p>\n
The field has been cut to 73 for the final round which will be played on Pete Dye. <\/p>\n
Scheffler, who won six tournaments on the PGA Tour in 2025 including two majors, is well placed to win in his first start of the new season.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s one shot behind Kim after his four under par round on the Pete Dye course. <\/p>\n
Several Aussies made the cut but it appears as if they are too far back to threaten.<\/p>\n
Jason Day (-15) is the highest placed Australian in a tie for 20th while Karl Vilps, Adam Scott and Min Woo Lee are all -14.<\/p>\n
American Harris English is also on -14 and likely too far behind to mount a winning challenge, but he did provide the highlight of the third round.<\/p>\n
