Wolf Alice<\/a>\u00a0singer Ellie Rowsell is a backing singer on\u00a0Harry Styles<\/a>\u2019 comeback single \u2018Aperture\u2019, it has been revealed.<\/p>\n

The former\u00a0One Direction<\/a>\u00a0singer\u00a0released the song on Thursday<\/a>\u00a0(January 22) as the first single from his upcoming album \u2018Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally<\/a>\u2019. Executive produced by\u00a0Kid Harpoon<\/a>,\u00a0Styles\u2019 fourth solo effort is due to be released on March 6 \u2013\u00a0visit here to pre-order<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On the song\u2019s credits on Spotify, Rowsell is listed as contributing backing vocals, making it the first time the two have appeared on record together.<\/p>\n

Wolf Alice did support Styles for a series of shows in Europe in the summer of 2022, with Rowsell even joining him on stage\u00a0in Lisbon\u00a0for a duet of the band\u2019s 2021 single \u2018No Hard Feelings\u2019<\/a>.\u00a0Check out footage of that\u00a0performance, as well as the official video for \u2018Aperture\u2019,\u00a0below.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Rowsell spoke about the duet in 2022<\/a>, describing it\u00a0as \u201cgreat\u201d,\u00a0and saying: \u201cWe\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0have much time to practice but it felt like a great\u00a0moment\u00a0and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0been a\u00a0really nice\u00a0memory I\u00a0have to\u00a0look back on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI loved being on stage with Harry and his band. It was the last day of the\u00a0tour\u00a0and it felt like a really\u00a0nice day,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Last year, Rowsell spoke to\u00a0Nylon<\/a>\u00a0about getting to know Styles, describing their shared tour as a \u201creally, really special experience\u201d and describing Styles as \u201ca super lovely guy\u201d and being \u201creally welcoming [and] passionate\u201d.<\/p>\n

NME\u00a0gave \u2018Aperture\u2019 a four-star review<\/a>, noting: \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0also Styles as\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0not heard him before. Rather than the loosely retro pop-rock of\u00a0\u2018Harry\u2019s House\u2019<\/a>\u00a0or the grand theatrics of ballads like\u00a0\u2018Sign Of The Times\u2019<\/a>, the star heads in the direction of\u00a0electronic\u00a0music.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Aperture\u2019 is propelled by a lightly thumping beat\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0made\u00a0more or less euphoric\u00a0by the stabs of house piano that dip in and out, the jittery blasts of distorted fuzz, and the 31-year-old\u2019s\u00a0resonant delivery in the chorus: \u201cWe belong together\u201d. Add in a series of drawn-out, droning chords and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0(likely) as close as\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0going to get to Styles fronting\u00a0LCD Soundsystem<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Indeed,\u00a0Styles has referenced James Murphy and co. as an influence on the song<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cI think the inspiration from them [was], \u2018Oh, that\u2019s how I want to feel when I\u2019m on stage\u2019.\u00a0And then that kind of led to the kind of music I was making,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Styles\u00a0has\u00a0also shared that\u00a0he needed to \u201cfall in love with music all over again\u201d after taking three years off after releasing \u2018Harry\u2019s House\u2019 in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In support of \u2018Kiss All\u00a0The\u00a0Time. Disco,\u00a0Occasionally\u2019,\u00a0Styles has\u00a0also announced a huge comeback tour<\/a>, which will see him play residencies in seven major cities around the world.<\/p>\n
