Kaleb Macqueen was working on his car in the quiet NSW outback town of Lake Cargelligo last Thursday when violence erupted.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old had been spending time with a friend at Nerida Quinn’s home when the sound of gunfire rang out nearby.<\/p>\n

Within seconds, he witnessed the 50-year-old shot dead in front of him, allegedly by Julian Ingram who he said was laughing.<\/p>\n

“The image in my head is still here to this day,” he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Macqueen instinctively moved towards Ms Quinn to try to help but quickly realised there was no way to reach her. So he turned and ran.<\/p>\n

“I went to run towards her but something told me to turn around and run the other way,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I quickly ran inside and that’s when he’s got me.”<\/p>\n

Mr Macqueen was shot in the back of the head, his hand, shoulder and leg. He was rushed to hospital, where staff later told him he was lucky to have survived.<\/p>\n

Previous altercations with alleged shooter<\/p>\n

Police allege the shooting occurred just moments after Mr Ingram allegedly killed his former partner, 25-year-old Sophie Quinn, who was heavily pregnant and her friend, a 32-year-old man.<\/p>\n

Julian Ingram possible sighting<\/a><\/p>\n

A large-scale search is underway in the Mount Hope district after a possible sighting of the alleged triple murderer overnight.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The shooting has rocked the close-knit community<\/a>, and is being treated as a domestic violence matter, as the search for Mr Ingram, 37, who has been missing ever since, is scaled up.<\/p>\n

Mr Macqueen said there had been previous altercations involving Mr Ingram and members of the Quinn family, but nothing indicated it would escalate to violence.<\/p>\n

“I never thought he’d be this dangerous,” he said.<\/p>\n

NSW Police confirmed the first possible sighting<\/a> of Mr Ingram on Sunday morning near Mount Hope, about an hour west of Lake Cargelligo, where it is believed he may be hiding.<\/p>\n

Locals said a group of pig hunters spotted the fugitive lying on the ground near the highway with multiple guns, though police are yet to confirm that and have warned against disinformation.<\/p>\n

Members of the public are being warned to exercise extreme caution.<\/p>\n

“Tactical police are in that location now, carrying out multiple searches in the area,” Western Region Commander Assistant Commissioner Andrew Holland said on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Mr Macqueen is recovering from his injuries but said he feared Mr Ingram could return.<\/p>\n

“I feel like I’m unfinished \u2026 that he’s wanted to kill me but I’ve gotten away,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Every time I hear something at the door I get paranoid.”<\/p>\n

Police said they did not know if Mr Ingram was armed, and if so, how many weapons he could have.<\/p>\n
