West Ham are considering a move to reignite their long-term interest in Harry Maguire if Man United cannot agree terms over a new contract.<\/p>\n

Former West Ham scout Mick Brown<\/a> told Football Insider that the 30-year-old has been on West Ham<\/a>\u2018s list for \u201cyears\u201d and has admirers at the club.<\/p>\n

The Hammers missed out on a deal to sign Maguire<\/a> during David Moyes<\/a>\u2018 time at the club after refusing to meet United<\/a>\u2019s asking price, but could now return.<\/p>\n

With just six months remaining on his current contract, the England international could be available for free in June, placing a number of clubs on alert.<\/p>\n

This comes amid ongoing concerns about their current centre-back options including the likes of Max Kilman<\/a>, Konstantinos Mavropanos<\/a> and Jean-Clair Todibo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Brown told Football Insider on 20 January that Man United should extend Maguire\u2019s contract<\/a> as he is set to play a huge role under Michael Carrick.<\/p>\n

However, with his contract situation still up in the air as things stand, West Ham are keeping a close eye on him with a potential free transfer in mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to bring Maguire in when I was at West Ham,\u201d Brown told Football Insider.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe felt he would have been a good addition under Moyes and Man United were willing to sell, but then the club wouldn\u2019t meet his asking price.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that he might be available on a free transfer, I expect that\u2019s something they will be aware of and he will still be on their list of targets.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s an upgrade on everything they\u2019ve got at the moment, that\u2019s for sure.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opportunity to get a player like him, who will improve their squad and add experience and know-how at the back on a free transfer, should be one they take.<\/p>\n

\u201cWest Ham won\u2019t be the only interested club because there are a few in the Premier League who could do with a player like that, but like I say, they\u2019ve wanted him for years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ll be keeping an eye on what happens with his contract at Man United and if he\u2019s going to be available, yeah, I think it would be a good move.\u201d<\/p>\n

Everton set sights on Harry Maguire and John Stones<\/p>\n

Despite their long-standing interest, however, West Ham will not be alone in their pursuit of Maguire and will face competition from Premier League rivals.<\/p>\n

Brown told Football Insider on 22 January that Everton are interested in signing Maguire<\/a>, with Moyes believed to be a big fan of the centre-back.<\/p>\n

The defender will have no shortage of suitors should he leave\u00a0Man United\u00a0this summer, but the opportunity to continue playing Premier League football will be appealing.<\/p>\n

However, Maguire is not the only centre-back on Everton\u2019s radar at the moment, with multiple options being considered, including Man City star John Stones.<\/p>\n

Brown told\u00a0Football Insider\u00a0on 20 January that\u00a0Everton would love to re-sign Stones<\/a>\u00a0despite concerns about his injury record so far this season.<\/p>\n
